Gotta say things are going very poorly for the GIANTS this summer. The vibes are very bad, while the offense struggles under the direction of the incompetent OC Garrett. What is most surprising is how bad the defense has looked. The defense was the strength of the team last season, but looks lackluster. Denver is the opening game and they are a hungry looking team hoping to win a lot of games, while the Giants look like a team that has already accepted its fate as a cellar dweller.

The Passement's Creed
What’s the use of sunshine– It only blinds your eyes. What’s the use of knowledge– It only makes you wise.
What’s the use of smiling– It wrinkles up your face. What’s the use of flowers– Clutter up the place.
What’s the use of eating– Nothing, only taste. What’s the use of hustling– Haste is only waste.
What’s the use of music– Just a lot of noise. What’s the use of loving– Only for the joys.
What’s the use of singing– Only makes you glad. What’s the use of goodness– When the whole world’s bad.
What’s the use of health– You might as well be sick. What’s the use of doing anything– But kick

Have we even fielded the starters yet? I mean, Jones, Barkley and none of the starting receivers have touched the field yet and an intersquad practice is going to be vanilla. Let us get the first game under our belt first until we destroy all hope.

wow...another preseason crystal ball analysis.
I am deleting this thread soon. I am all for critiquing and pointing out the flaws of the team Hell...all threads contain posts that critique. However this consistent black cloud output is just annoying and not productive to a good message board.

Have you forgotten what preseason football looks like? Very similar to our regular season football... Too soon to be all doom and gloom however especially since most our players haven't been out there. Lets see how they look in the first half vs the Patriots with Jones at QB.

Yes this post is as premature as a 16 year old boy, I get it. It's preseason and Judge is using it more as an audition for completing the roster more than anything.
However, we have said pretty much the same thing every year for the past several years, and when the season started the team did look pretty much like it did in the preseason.
Again, I don't really put any credence in preseason being an indicator of success when the season starts, but for the Giants the last several years...it sort of has been.

LOL all the whining about the OL and now this he doesn't notice so far they look good, and the depth can actually play. Remember when the OL was the most important thing now that they are showing signs of improvement on to the next whining point. The negativity will find a new place to call home whats next.

The 2008 lions went 4-0 in preseason out scoring opponents 80-32…
Preseason isn’t about winning or even playing good…it’s about practicing game situations, improving on your weak points, and possibly the most important…evaluating players.
Play calls will be repeated 3-5 times in a row at times just so coaches can gauge execution/ability of players and the team alike…
That’s why many times you see “potential” guys like sills playing with a poor supporting cast, to see if they’re really that good or it’s just the other teams camp fodder is that bad
Point: we don’t know **** until the regular season starts, even that will take 4 weeks or so…I’m sure you jumped ship week 3 in 07 (if you made it that far)

Other than Wiggins (who won't likely even make the team) and one bad Peart block against the Jets this is spot on and is the most important thing. Clement and Booker are decent RB's and along with Engram, Shep, Slayton, Sills, Kaden and probably Pettis (throw in some red zone Rudolph), it's enough to hold down the fort until Barkley, Golladay and Toney are ready (maybe John Ross too as 7 WR's is likely this year) and 100% healthy. If the O-line has improved/continues to show strides and they can run the ball that's half the battle. The defense is close to 100% healthy (knock on wood) outside of Adoree Jackson (who's ankle injury from yesterday is reported as not that bad) and Aaron Robinson (a rookie who'd struggle some anyway) and have yet to have all defensive starters on the field so we'll need to reserve judgement. If they get that full starting squad on the field with a healthy Adoree, as I have said all offseason, this defense will be very nasty. I truly believe that top 3 in the league amongst the best defensive rankings is achievable.

I think he can but I also think he will still struggle with his reads. Which I feel is his biggest flaw. Leads to hanging onto the ball too long and resulting in hits and fumbles. He really needs to pick up the pace in his reads ( and make the right ones).

GT, the Giants Oline was ranked last or 31'st last year and failed the eye test miserably. Any improvement will lift this team up. Reports have been very good about Thomas and remember he was a train wreck to start 2020. I haven't been positive on these boards in the last few weeks based on reports coming out of camp but even I realize that Jones is currently practicing with the same level of talent that he had in 2020. He doesn't doesn't have his new TE (Just got activated), his #1 receiver or Toney (Who I'm not expecting much from this year but am expecting him to be a contributor). The Giants need Golladay on the field soon and then Barkley. Either of these guys will change the entire way a defense will play against the Giants and open the offense up. Unfortunately, I just read a story this morning that quoted Judge saying that Barkley won't be playing in game 1 IF he doesn't have contact in practice (7 vs 7) (11 Vs 11). The Giants need Golladay at this moment pretty badly...

I will say if they can run the ball early on while the key guys get healthy and the blocking is holding up, you can go to play action or RPO and that could help Jones immensely too. You know Garrett is itching to go to that more than he could last year due to shaky blocking a lot of the time. All you mentioned about Jones is key for him to improve upon and I will also add he needs to use his legs in the pocket more to make things happen rather than just net rush yards. Extend plays making it harder for the opposing defense to completely bottle up the skill guys for an entire specific pass play.

The second half of last year they were Legit competitive 5-3 but that was last year the good thing it gives them a building block, I'm down when the talent is down and the coaches seem lost for me that is not the case at this moment.

Look at you. You contribute nothing to society.

Agree I think solid protection will help him settle he mind down when a QB is alway worried about pressure it slows everything down in their head. That said just looked at the BBV live tweets and the OL ha shad the first really rough series in a while with false starts couple sacks but they did bounce back with a nice drive ending with a TD.
