Damn.. I remember Patten. He was a little spunky receiver, who played hard. And had an accomplished career. Sad news, he will be missed. My condolences to his family.

A shame. Still very young in the grand scheme of things.

He went to New England and became a main threat for them. Just like our team not to recognize true talent. RIP David.

He had a Sterling Shephard type of brevada about him; actually similar in stature too, he was just dark skinned. Almost look alike as well. RIP

Exactly and kinda how Ed McCaffery went to the 9ers and became a much better player with them. Over the years and mostly back in the day, it was often I saw players leave us and be utilized different and looked like a totally different player.

Chrebet and AzAhir Hakeem were the prototypes but it took the modern mutation of the Erheart/Perkins passing system that had been developed in Pittsburgh under Erheart and brought to New England in 2000 where smaller slot WRs became a thing.. Back then your slot guys were bigger possession types,Jurevicios,ect.. Fassel was a classic WCO guy along with Payton and liked a little size all over the field

I thought he was the best WR we had ever drafted up until that time. And they let him walk right after his rookie contract I think. To this day I’ll never understand what the **** Young was thinking when he made the moves he made with that team. I think he actually went senile or something unannounced.
