Did he come to camp injured? Don't know for sure, but I don't remember him practicing much if at all. And if you rupture your patella in no contact drills it was probably already damaged. I do remember Beatty tearing his pec lifting just before camp, and we know how that ended up. the main point and question was actually the other part of my post.

Not sure how that was âbungledâ. They tried to see if the injury would heal with rest. It didnât, so he had surgery. Pretty simple. He played in the opener though, one week after it was announced he had a tear. And he apparently did further damage to it, as he was replaced by Bredeson early. Doesn't really sound like a lot of rest. He barely practiced all summer. What is your basis for saying that he did further damage to it?

He was removed suddenly after playing well in about 16 snaps in week 1. I don't know if he did further damage, or it was determined he couldn't play on the knee as it was. But after the initial injury in July, it was announced he avoided major damage with only a sprain. The tear only came to light a few days before the season.

Doesn't really sound like a lot of rest. Not every body is created equal and not all tears are as well. If he was cleared to play by his doctor, that's his doctor's fault. There were probably percentages that this would happen or that would happen. NFL players play through injuries all the time. The doctor probably told him that he could get worse with playing or it might stay the same for the rest of the season and he could have surgery in the off-season. Either way, it could have taken months for it to heal properly on its own, if it ever healed on its own. It probably didn't matter either way. He was either going to be able to play for the season or get shut down. He tested it and it didn't work out...

I can see it now, these injuries will allow Dave to stay for another year. Yup, sucks for Lemieux but Mara and the homers will act like we just lost 2 All Proâs who would have carried us to the playoffs when in reality we lost an average to slightly below average center in Gates and one of the worst guards in the league in Lemieux.

Ralph Vacchiano â @rvacchianosny Better news from Joe Judge on G Shane Lemieux. Judge said his surgery went well and âit might not be season-ending.â
âI wouldnât rule out anything as far as a return this year,â he said.
Did this fly under the radar today?

He obviously came into camp hurt, and worked it because of his contract.

He was injured and carted off the field on the second day of practice.

He was injured and carted off the field on the second day of practice. Maybe I'm just jaded. But I have a hard time believing he had no idea about that injury before camp. He's now out for the year after suffering a torn patella while participating in no pads basic walk-throughs in the first days of camp? I call BS, just MO.

Jones time to shine is now, he better have a mental clock of when Lemieux is coming back.
