I know trades in the NFL are rare but if a really good young lineman becomes available would you be willing to step up with a 1st or 2nd round pick this season?
I would for 3 reasons.
1. We are obviously going to draft linemen so why wait?
2. Why take a chance throwing away another season due to a bad line?
3. We do have 2 first round picks next season.

Yes if a proven young talent was up for trade I would trade a pick for him. That won't happen though.

It would have to be a really really really good and can't miss thing and I don't think there is one that would fit that criteria, or not enough to give up a first...maybe a second. The problem is, I don't trust Gettleman to get the guy we need be it free agency or draft.

Depends on how “good” that lineman is. If, the Colts lost their will to live and want to sell the farm. I would trade whatever it takes to get Nelson in blue. Other than him, and a few others. I’m not willing to jeopardize the future.

I’m not willing to jeopardize the future. I look at trading for a guy that has already shown what he can do in the NFL as less risky than drafting a guy. Of course it depends on the guy and the price but if I was DG I would be calling around.

This league has spit out top collegiate players for decades.

Depends on what they're looking to get back in return and how many years does that player still have left on his deal.

Even for a high end guard, I'm not sure I'm willing to give up a 1st or 2nd round pick for a guy that's going to be a free agent after this season where we will be tight against the cap. If they are giving up a higher pick, then the guy needs to have at least one more year on his rookie deal. And I find it highly doubtful that any team will want to trade a talented player that they still get on the cheap for another year.
