#1: Tiki Barber is the greatest Giants RB of all time and at least has an argument for the NFL hall of fame. He is maligned (by me as well to be fair) because he suffers from foot in mouth syndrome, especially in 2007 when he ripped on Eli and Coughlin, only see them win the Super Bowl the year he retired.
#2: Eli Manning - but not by Giants fans, but by the general football public and media. Let me know when Rodgers wins his second ring...

com’on Tiki vs Jeter? Difference is Tiki went into the media and tired ridiculing others while standing on their shoulders to feel taller. Jeter remained quiet. Tiki retired b/c his “heart” wasn’t in it, ridiculed Coughlin who taught a fumbling Barber how to hold the football and ridiculed the QB. Both of which won Super Bowls once he retired Jeter never mentioned anything about his heart or ridiculed any players. He praised everybody. Jeter is PC, Tiki isn't. Not saying Tiki is perfect, I just respect the fact that he doesn't play the PC game & says what he feels regardless of who it might buuthurt/offend. Doesn't take away from the fact that he is the greatest RB to ever play for the Giants & put up his 3 greatest statistical seasons after age 29! Rushed for 5,040yds at a 5ypc clip! 27 rushing TDs +4 more rec TDs. 2000+ all purpose yds all 3 yrs. No other RB in NFL history ever did this to my knowledge. It's BS that he's not in the HOF along with Simms. And Tiki reached those heights under Coughlin. He was nowhere near that type player before Coughlin came here and installed the high and tight in Tiki's run game. Tiki was basically a 3rd down back. Tiki was the greatest Giant RB in history. That 3 year period where he was a 2,000 yd back is the way I will always remember him. God I loved to watch him play. No SB, No HOF, and he could have had both. Good, I hope it haunts him every day. Especially when he gives the tribute to his brother getting in the HOF.

How easy would it have been for Coughlin remind Barber he was a liability until he taught Barber how not to be a turnover machine. Barber was an @sshole and an ego maniac who needed to be humbled. His arrogance cost him a prime position in the limelight whereas Strahan was more humble and became what Barber thought he would become. I’ve never cared about the HOF. Now, it’s not for only the greats anymore. Not sure if Barber or Simms belong or not. IMO, neither are HOF players but in this day and age who knows? Couldn't agree more with all you've said.

One good draft as GM, his first. A bunch of really bad picks after that. Swung and missed at just about every OL pick. B grade Beatty was his mediocre best. Arrogance however was what killed him; two quick examples: 1. With a horrendous OL getting no better, he signed no FA and drafted not a single OL that year. When challenged on it he said, "the talent is there on the OL, it is up to the coaches to bring it out." 2. The time the high school reporter challenged him on a personnel decision and he blew him off like he didn't know what he was talking about. The next day we find out that the kid was right and JR was trying to fake his way past the facts. Reese had a number of terrible press conferences that were just as bad as Gettleman's if not worse. He always passed the blame to others Reese also passed the OL blame to Eli calling him skittish. Yeah, I'd be skittish too if every game was almost a repeat of the 2011 NFC champ game for his final 7 seasons. Meanwhile how many times was Reese a stuttering fool at his press conferences?

Reese was a good GM, but his time had run its course. I think there should've been more sustained success during his tenure.
