The voters in the MLB HOF are pathetic. The same people these guys keep out are the same people these hypocrites voted for MVP and Cy Young awards. Bonds and Clemens should have been in years ago. If Ortiz gets in before they do despite failing a test and being mentioned in the Mitchell Report, they are even more of a clown show that I already thought.

His career was almost over when he left the Sox. In his last 4 years he was 41-40 in Boston. You could make the argument that his play before the "change" did not qualify for the HOF. Bonds is a bit different. You could argue that he had a HOF career before HIS metamorphosis. So there may come a time when he gets in.
As for Papi.........HAHAHAHAHA. ....... Bite me!!!

He’s a great guy and everybody loves him so his steroid use gets explained away. Not denied obviously, just rationalized because juicing is bad except….

I think that Ortiz will and should get in. He just shouldn't get in before several other great players linked to PEDs. Even Rafael Palmiero was a better overall player. PS, Analyst will be here soon to come put you in your place 😄

this is absolutely the case, no question about it. Is anyone surprised though? Papi was one of the most clutch hitters in MLB history. He had some help, just like the others I mentioned (PEDs). I don't even care about PED use. He just doesn't deserve to get in before either of those guys and several more.

Ok, Screw it, Im in....
Career WARs:
Bonds 162.7 ARod 117.5 Ortiz 55.3
In all seriousness, if Ortiz gets in, then Bonds, Arod, ManRam, Clemons, Sosa, should all be in. They are all much better than what Ortiz was in their careers, and all were connected to the PED era.

I don't care about the waiting part. Aging a player on a HOF ballot is stupid IMO. You know when you see a HOF player. If Ortiz is one, he should be in year 1. As should the rest. Every HOFer should be a first ballot HOFer or its too watered down. And you should be able to have unlimited votes. And there also should be a "fan vote" that gets in every year. My fan vote this year would be Bonds. Arod was clearly a first ballot HOFer too. Personality playing a factor is ridiculous. Baseball does a lot of stupid things. I lost a lot of respect for the dying sport. This will just be another ridiculous thing. Like starting extras with a runner on 2nd base.

Oh I'm just using their own flawed politics against them. I agree that if a person is a HOF player without a doubt, they need to go in. The waiting game that they make people play is absurd. Putting in Ortiz before they put in the players you mentioned and more is just flat out ridiculous to me. They're trying their best to act like the steroid era never existed.

That is absolutely correct. I wasn't arguing that point either. Yeah, no one is arguing that Ortiz isn't a HOF player or wasn't a great clutch hitter. It just would be lame if he got in before Bonds, Clemens, or a lot of other great players with the PED cloud on them. Some of those voters are voting for Jeff Kent and Scott Rolen over players like ManRam, Bonds, and Clemens to name a few.

This is old news. It took forever for the voters to finally have a unanimous winner. When so many qualified players deserved it. But, these pencil pushers had to push their narrative for decades. Now, it’s coming to a point where the steroid era is getting some notice. If sloppy papi gets in, then open up the flood gates and let all of them in.

They love you when you’re putting butts in the seats, but once you’re gone they shun you. Joe Jackson has been dead for 71 years, you think it’s time to finally let the 3rd all time batting average leader in..

The body endures a lot of wear and tear over the year. Perhaps not cycles of roids but they all would take a little booster imo. Even for myself, this unregulated sports nutrition has to have something more in it. I used to lift non-stop and back then, this creatine suddenly appears. Yeah, well i find it hard to believe after years of pumping iron with occasional breaks to heal that a few days of creatine and suddenly i can pick a car without fatigue. There was a lot of stuff floating around.
