I am not nearly as attuned to the finances and contracts of any of the professional leagues as many of you are. At a glance however, it appears that players in the NFL get screwed (on average) in terms of guaranteed pay far more than other leagues. Over and over I see how accomplished players who have signed contracts are released by NFL teams as cap casualties. Then you look at other leagues, such as baseball, where you have Bobby Bonilla still making $1.6 million every year for the past 20+ years.
If I had a son with incredible athletic talent (to go with his Dad's good looks) I would want them to play baseball or basketball instead of football. Am I reading this right or no?

Seems like many general sports fans are bailing on baseball (too boring, bad officiating and rule changes) and basketball (certain players have too much say, no team loyalty). Football fans say they're done, but it's just talk.

Heck yes the other leagues get better guarantees than the NFL. And you probably save going for a knee operation.

An average baseball player is paid better than many star NFL players. As far as son making the Majors, you have better chance on making it big in the business world.

I believe it. I dontnknow if I've ever met a diver. Water polo, yea, swimmers, yea, definitely not diving. As for golfing, the added bonus is that if she sucks at everything else in life, she'll still be able to get a job because everyone will want her on their scramble team.

I have a 21 and an 18 year old and neither are making the bigs in any sport. They will have to get by on their wits......(gulp)

Just stir the pot and mock undersized centers and pass rushers who can’t shed a block. Guaranteed, you’ll get a modern day following. 🤓

He was a football walk on and never enough talent for the NFL but played well in high school and taught to catch and block well by pops. Got his degree and owns a nice distribution business. Funny story on being a bad dad...me. He got his single engine pilots license at age 17 in a high school program. At this same time he was learning to drive a car...told him one day to back it off the driveway and he smashed my mailbox to pieces. When he got his pilots license the graduation consisted of he and the instructor taking the parents up for a flight...I declined, always remembering his reverse into the mailbox.
