The "You can't advance it" game. I remember watching this game with my uncle (RIP) as a kid and him saying every profane word that you could ever say

It was played in a torrential downpour all day and scalped tickets for $20 at the stadium and bought rain poncho. Simms got hurt early. I remember the final play as being an instant of joy at the blocked kick and then emotionally crushed as they ran it in for TD. Remember leaving the stadium soaking wet, exhausted and in despair as we went back to my car. Unfortunately a feeling I've experienced way too often when it comes to games against the Eagles( I was at the Fumble as well).

Forgot about this game until I saw Bill run onto the field.

I was there, it was pretty bad. IMO this was worse. I was there for that one also.

Thread has my vote for the worst of all time. Not that i need a replay of the ‘97 playoff collapse, the 49er playoff collapse or Miracle in the Meadowlands II. Nobody wants to see it so save the effort.
Thanks

In all seriousness, I was really young when this happened and it was the last chance I got to watch a Giants game with my uncle who made me a fan of the team before he passed away a few weeks later.

The "You can't advance it" game. I remember watching this game with my uncle (RIP) as a kid and him saying every profane word that you could ever say I remember this like it was yesterday. This rule never made sense to me. What the rule says is that a blocked kick can be advanced by the kicking team if the ball is recovered behind the line of scrimmage. And the ball cannot be advanced by the kicking team if the ball passes the line of scrimmage. Essentially a blocked kick that stays behind the line of scrimmage has been more blocked than a ball that passes the line of scrimmage. It has traveled less distance. So what this rule does is it penalizes the defending team for doing a better job of blocking the kick. That makes absolutely no sense and it cost the Giants this game. I believe this rule is still on the books for some reason.
