Anyone get the feeling Wink would have liked to keep Blake? nope at at all. He was using coach speak. Not saying he didnt like Martinez I get the feeling that the Blake situation may have been similar to the Slayton situation. Excused day off to speak to Joe about lowering their salaries. Next day Slay stayed (with lower salary) while Blake went. In that case it would have been Joe not Wink making that call.

Wink says he's comfortable with and loves his defensive players. Also said he would not have taking the job if he didn't think he would have the no. 1 defense in the NFL. Music to my ears. Bring on the Titans!

Wink seems to be enjoying coaching up these youngsters, also he is gonna keep it positive he gets it they are young and still learning I'm sure he knows there are some tough times ahead, that said my guess is Wink is gonna want to see growth a better D at the half way point and even better D at years end.

Blake had already restructured in March. His base salary was $1.25 million. I doubt it was about money... They saved chump change and carry dead money.

"take the best we have and put them in situations that best suit them". (paraphrased)

Why, I don't know.

He’s a born to be a DC type guy. was thinking the same thing. Like he probably doesn't even want to be a HC. Not sure if that's true however.

He came to practice the next day and then was cut. Maybe they asked him to restructure in some way?

I like him, too. He said if if didn’t think this Giants defense could be good, he wouldn’t have come here. And I believe him. Why would he come here? He’s had some good seasons and HC opportunities. I just don’t know how they’ll be good.

It might have been Blake wanting to go to traditional type defense where the ILB will be on the field more, why force a guy to stay in a situation he doesn't want to be in when he signed here he was gonna be the field general on D.

Pretty sure Baltimore fired him. Didn't really have a choice to leave Baltimore or not unless he asked them to fire him lol.

I’ve said from the beginning that the coaching staff and their synergy to the front office is what makes me optimistic about this regime. As much as I liked Judge, I wasn’t crazy about his coordinators and how he handled the Oline from a coaching perspective. I like Wink and It’s very easy to appreciate the way he schemes to pressure the QB. We have to hope that Robinson can hold up because we know he’ll be tested big time.

According to the statement by Jim Harbaugh, it was a mutual decision. What I read was that Wink was on the last year of his deal in Baltimore. I guess because of the down season last year they decided not to extend him and wanted him to let the season play out, but he had other plans so they parted company.

His value will only increase as players get hurt in the first few weeks. Slayton still has much to prove in this league and probably doesn't have a better opportunity than where he is.

We are in that preseason euphoria mood and everything sounds great! We could have the best coaches in the league who will get every "drop" out of each player! But the bottom line remains the same, it all comes down to talent on the field and we are still a long ways off!

Robinson only has 9 games experience at CB. Tough position. So while he in his second season he still is 8 games shy of a whole season starting at the NFL level.

And Spags led the worst defense in the NFL in 2012 with the Saints. Shit happens. 3 out of his 4 years his defenses were top 5, one year they were number 1. Also, I'm pretty sure they just didn't resign him and both parties agreed to go in another direction.
