Please hear me out. I know this might seem like a joke. For the most part, most pundits out there have us ruled out as a laughingstock. We are the bottom feeders of the NFC least. No mention of what this team can do. The NYG have earned every bit of disrespect from multiple seasons past. I get it. What I saw on Sunday was a team that played like a team. Sure there are going to be growing pains this year with a new staff and systems. What I saw was a team that believed in their path, believed in their coaches and most notably believed in themselves. S.B. played out of his mind on Sunday. He played like he was the best RB in football last weekend. It was a thing of beauty. The Oline played good enough along with DJ. The defense held that RB monster to under 100 yds rushing. The young defense played good enough without 2 pass rushers. I think we have something brewing. The Panthers are coming up. Cleveland held Christian to 33 yds rushing and put the onus on Baker. That Tennessee team was 7-2 at home last year. Tennessee is better than Carolina. I think we have a real shot at beating the Panthers this weekend. Then after that the reeling Cowboys are coming.
Bottom feeders don't go into Tennessee and put themselves in a position to win that game. The NYG might be better than most people think.

Any given Sunday. We were trash last year, and beat a good Saints team. We aren’t anything yet, we are building the foundation to become something.

Agree. I never doubted that the Giants would be good this season.
But in Titans game the Giants played like crap in the first half as Daboll played players at LG who couldn't protect Jones. He had Hamilton and another player who should have played LG.
Also, play calling was atrocious in the first half.
Also, Daboll should have played McFadden more at IL as both ILs did not play well.
Looking forward to seeing if Daboll runs new plays in second game or repeats lot of the same plays. Hope that doesn't happen.

Love the optimism. Any Giant fan that says they don’t have some right now is a liar.
I think the Giants are certainly underrated.
But we still have a roster that can be exploited.
The difference is now there’s some hope that we have adults running this team that can craft a response, in game, with hopefully enough runway to influence the score.
So it’s great to have hope. We friggin should. But there’s big holes on this team. They haven’t gone away with that win.

The 2nd half adjustments that were made is what has me very confident this coaching group is a big upgrade.
Also nice that it was the other team calling stupid plays costing them the game!!

We beat last years AFC #1 seed in their house, their home opener and essentially with their heavy run game with a mixed passing attack and a solid defense they use against teams. Lowly teams can't replicate that. We just did.

It was only one game. (acually only half a game)
But it was the season opener.
Huge hurdle.

I'd say we have 4 or 5 players on the roster, anticipated to be amongst our top performers - who we haven't seen yet or much of, but expect to very soon. Same for schemes on both sides of the ball. That is extremely encouraging, on top of the win and winning certain critical battles already.

I want to believe, but I need to see more. There is reason to be optimistic of the future, but really this team has some MAJOR issues. The interior oline looked like a big problem, the secondary and linebackers are going to give up massive plays, we have no pass rush even with thibs and Oljalari they're kind of unproven. I know Oljalari had some sacks last season, but i'm pretty sure most of those were coveraged based and not because of pass rushing.
Lets pump the breaks. That said the giants have a winnable next 3 games. If they can start the season 4-0 and keep progressing they may suprise me, but what we saw that first half against the titans was not a "mirage" as DG would say.
Lets see what happens next weekend

The NFC is full of teams with issues and questions out there. If the NYG could just be solid at what they do, maybe there is something to this team. We will see.

The Giants won 1 game on a missed field goal. They don't get a parade for that. The Giants have lots of holes on this team but it seems the coaching is better there are some bright spots but only based on 1 game. Lets see how it goes but "underrated" is not something in my vocabulary at this time.

Time for a good film review week and take the good and learn from the bad
Have a solid week of practice with a dash of winning attitude
Then take of business with the Panthers and the Giants start building some swagger.

Ten years of utter shit can’t be erased in one week. This is the opposite side of the coin known as fanhood. When we lose, everyone should be fired. When we win, we’re a juggernaut. That’s why fan is short for fanatic.

I Agree with everything you said think the arrow is pointing in the right direction. The only thing I don't agree with is a good Saints team they were not and no longer are the Sean Peyton Drew Brees Saints. They are in the middle of the road now. It is early who knows with the Titans they might be getting ready to start to fall a bit, as a fan base one good win doesn't mean the ugly stick is gone there is still gone be a bumpy road ahead and a ton of work to do I'm just happy that it appears we are in good hands.

I would caution against week 1 overreactions. This is still a very bad and inexperienced roster.

Other than that this team was coached very well which is a nice change!

The pass blocking is a weakness for now. Secondary weakness too. Hopefully we get the pass rush we need to help the guys on the backend. I am hopeful for improvement but also realistic.

As I mentioned in another post a pass rush could be the big answer to help the secondary. I am very positive about "Wink" . He will be a huge advantage for hiding some of the D issues. I agree the coaching was good. On to game 2!

Carolina gave up a lot of rushing yards to the Browns in the end they clamped down tho Jones will have to do more this week and so well the Giants D.

they sucked for so long
new staff and limited roster
yet there is a QB trying become the franchise and HC that will help him try and get there.
its an odd situation in that respect.
They have 1 win and they earned it. No luck in a kicker missing. Like any other player he screwed up his assignment.
Lots of excitement for the Giants and "most" of their fans. Its a 17 game season so let see what week 2 brings. If they lose horribly then the whole outlook will be different. If they win then its 2-0 and off to the next game
