Breaking Report: Doctors report no heartbeat heard from Met's team. Lost 6 in a row since the trade deadline. What are the odds they get swept by the Cubs to make it 9? So sad. Steve evidently wrote a letter to season ticlet holders explaining the process they're undergoing and that we will be competing in 2024. What else can he do? He has to save next year's ticket sales/attendance.

He has to save next year's ticket sales/attendance. He'll survive. He's looking to build a fortune around city field, and 2 years means nothing to him. There will probably be a casino close within a few years so in case the Mets still suck, fans will have a different way to spend $$ other than hotdogs and beer.

The O's sweeping the Mets isn't surprising or not expected. I didn't think the starting pitching was so bad against the 2nd best team in baseball. The relief pitching was between awful and laughable.
The hitting just can't come through. The batting averages are garbage. The fielding from these Triple A players cost Guitano a heart felt pitching performance. God only knows what Ortega was doing in centerfield on a liner that should have been caught and wound up a triple with nobody out.
And Mindink at 2nd on a double play ball or a play at the plate with the infield in. This is not major league ball. The O's won this game 2-0 because of these plays, the O's take advantage of every mistake. The difference between a good team and a bad team.
The Mets are going to wind up being one of the worse teams. Should help in the draft position. It's just going to be a long 2 months till the end of the season.

How about KC sweeping them? They are 36-77. The second to worst team in MLB swept the Mets, and it was never even close. This team has given up. Me too. I'll still follow them for laughs, but won't be watching anymore.

Good news, the remaining strength of schedule is 4th hardest in the League with opponents at a .527 winning percentage.

This move is over due. Baty had a fine beginning to the season but has steadily gone much worse. I had just read in the last 30 games Baty is batting .148, in the last 15 games .125, and in the last 7 games .048. Baty is hitting .216 for the season. Also his fielding has gone from decent to poor. In the last game with a runner on 3rd he breaks on the ground ball to Baty and he backhands a ball in front of him. Boggles it and has no play at home. This was the 3rd misplay by Mets fielding in the 2-0 loss to the O's. So many things going wrong for the whole team. Baty needs a break, he's pressing much to much and not doing anything right. Let him go to Triple A and just calm down and get his game back together. The Mets gave him more than a solid chance to prove himself.

He's been lost, and probably feels even more pressure since the sell off. Also gives them an opportunity to see Vientos more often.

I’m sick of hearing the rah rah crap about Alonso and Lindors performance once the season was effectively in the shitter. And to be clear one is hitting 230 and the other 240. Not impressed.

Yeah, it's way too little too late. Lindor was actually hitting better prior to the trade deadline, but neither is coming through with anything late in games to win games. Pete is a double play machine when he isn't hitting homers. Pete is the guy you love to have when he's surrounded by guys who hit for average. We haven't had that. I don't know what Lindor is since he's been a met aside from a very good defensive player that occasionally gets hot.

So there have been rumors of clubhouse issues with the Mets for a couple years. Lindor apparently attacked McNeil a couple years ago in the clubhouse. Then Lindor promised to buy him a car for winning the batting title and supposedly still hasn't done it. Now several people in the media are talking about Pete being shopped because of team issues. What do you think? www.audacy.com/wfan/sports/mets/sal-mets-clubhouse-is-toxic-and-pete-alonso-may-need-to-go

I don't see them.

And here we are with 47 more game to go. It's almost funny. "In fact, the Mets drew nine walks and collected seven hits on the night, but scored zero runs. They left 14 runners on base and went 0-for-12 with RISP. They’re the first team in the modern era to ever do that. So at least they made some history this year." And... "Daniel Vogelbach took a golden sombrero. He was booed after every at bat, and was even booed when he walked up to the plate in the ninth inning." www.amazinavenue.com/platform/amp/2023/8/11/23829277/mets-braves-recap-megill-morton-riley-garbage-time-lost-season

Damn guys, you have my sympathies for what the Braves have done to you guys this weekend. I know that some of you are mad at the owner, but the Wilpons were James Dolan kinds of awful. At least this owner is throwing money at the team and wants to win.

If they deal Pete and don't do something to be competitive next season, I will be mad.

Vogey is a strikeout every time up. Don't know why they just don't cut him. Pay him his salary and let him enjoy his life the rest of the season. He adds nothing, honestly don't know why he wasn't cut months ago. Bring up anybody he will add more to the team than Vogey. At least you can get to see a young player that might help you next year. Everybody is embarrassed for Vogey, ownership, Mgr and coaches, teammates, and fans. Himself the most.

I am glad we cut bait and traded Justin and Max. Even though I had to argue with myself about it.
Out of the 10 teams that had to decide to buy or sell at the deadline only 2 of them have a winning record since the deadline. The Cubs and Seattle. Teams that really took a shot and failed and traded away young talent are San Diego and the Angels.
I am happy now that were building for tomorrow. 44 games left hope we tank and get a top 5 pick and make it worth while. Just hope they sign Pete long term.
Follow the Orioles outline. A young team that has excelled ahead of schedule and still hass 4 players in the top 55 in all of baseball. Including the #1 prospect in Holiday at 19 or 20 yrs old..

OK 6 weeks left, the Mets have the 8th worst record. They need to tank these last thirty something games. Triple A players need to play lets see what we got. Senga and maybe Quintana are the only pitchers that could win more than they lose imo.
Go to a 6 man rotation don't use up any arms. Shut Diaz down, what the hell is he coming back for ? Shut Marte and Nimmo down their hurt. Even Lindor is playing hurt, why ? Who cares at this point about winning. It's better we move down 4 or so spots in the draft and get a can't miss gem with the 4th pick.
Why is Vogey playing, he is gone after the season ends, even Carrasco if there's a minor league pitcher worth taking a look at. The 6 man rotation each starter goes 1once a week. I'd even let Senga miss a start so he could pitch once in 2 weeks.
The losses are worth more than the wins .
