Best reliever in the game, 28 years old. A no brainer.

Diaz for 5 years thats money in the bank. The best reliever in 2022. He should have been the first Met we went after to sign. He deserved it.
I was looking at our FA's we have a lot of our pitchers that are FA's. Here's the ones I'm interested in signing. de Grom has a 1 year tender but he's not taking that so that's going to be a interesting negotiation. Also Candy and Walker have a 1 year option neither is signing it. So 4 of our 5 starters we need to sign. Lugo Ottovino Bassit Williams (could be an important swing pitcher for us)
All FA's.
I think Nimmo should be the next guy we try and sign. He is a hot commodity. The only starting CF in FA .
You might see some trades, apparently were stocked in the minors at catching and also shortstop.
LETS GO METS !

Anyone willing to go 4/160 for Jake can have him IMO.

Anyone willing to go 4/160 for Jake can have him IMO. I tend to agree. But it would really suck having him in our division.

I was hoping we could sign him for 2 years with a 3rd year option. Guess that's really not gonna fly with deGroms team. Were going to need to sign 3 other starters. Bassit, Candy, and Walker imo. All 3 can walk.

Doing great so far but still a lot of work to do. Next , Lets keep going. Bassitt, Walker, Nimmo, Lugo, Ottovino.

I think Houston showed everyone what a strong and deep amount of relievers can do. One after the other out of that bullpen. In todays game were lucky if a starter goes more than 5 innings. And at the end of the season even the aces look like they have nothing left. Most of them are older. Verlander was a perfect example. As far as deGrom there is nobody as good as him when he is on. As far as his health he seems to miss so much of every year. What do you want to invest ? I'm really torn on keeping him on a long term contract. I don't trust his health but would hate to lose him to another team. Especially when he comes to NY and beats us. I have no idea what other starters are available in FA.

I just don't know if he can stay healthy. And I think someone is going to throw money and years at him that the Mets won't match.

I was hoping he would take a 2 year with a 3rd year option but apparently the deGrom team isn't settling for that. deGrom is 30 yrs old I believe. He couldn't stay healthy in his 20's I question the 30's.

And I think the Mets will ho high on money, but not on years.

I think Walker is as good as gone to a pitching needy team, like Texas. No qualifying offer frees up teams to offer now. He won’t get 19m per, but someone will pony up more than we will.

A 4 year deal, tough decision do we roll the dice and lay out big time cash which may stop us from going heavy after someone in FA ? I really don't know what I would do.

As much as I'd hate to face him on a divisional team, maybe it's time to let him go and see what happens.

That many years and that much money for a guy you aren’t sure has 1 healthy season in him. I hate to say it, but have him. I’d have been upset if we had given him that money.

Youre right, that's a huge gamble, but your new owner has a bottomless pit filled with money. Tough loss talent wise. I didn't think think he was going anywhere.
