I'm happy it is all still out there for them everyone lost today that mattered. Giants should have a pissed off attitude next week Against the Colts they gave this game away out played the Viking but stepped on their own nuts and lost it.

It is so sad that the Giants are where they are at in the playoff race and have a tie breaker against the next closest team but even when all the teams they needed to lose lost including that next closest team they still could not clinch. It truly is a pathetic and unpleasant reality.

Even though we lost, this was a great game. The score was about what I expected. When it comes down to it, you could say the difference between the two teams was the difference in talent level of the WR's. You see right there what guys like Hockenson, Jefferson do for an average QB like Cousins.
I give credit to our receivers, they're giving everything they can and playing way above their means. Belinger made up for his fumble with that awesome grab. I see great things eventually. Our receivers just aren't good or experienced enough to play at this level right now.

Giants pass for 334 yards on over 20 completion and our WRs are terrible. Really?

I think Hodgens and and Slayton can stay as as 3and 4 James as a 5 they need an #1 and a #2 to compete with Robinson.

Silver Lining: We had a decent chance at winning this game. Daboll and Co kept us in the game and fighting. Last year it would have been over by the 1st qrt Jones kept the Giants in the game. Loved Jones decisiveness, and scramble to find receiver in the end zone. Daboll's plays got receivers few separations. But dropping two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt really hurt. But plays far better than last season.

Yeah except for this play www.vikings.com/video/peterson-undercuts-the-route-for-a-key-fourth-quarter-pick. The defense kept the Giants in the game. This play put them out. The loss was a team effort. Jones lack of production, this interception as well as blocked kicked was the contributing factors.. Your fanboy love for DJ is really weird and freaky

Holding calls, dropped passes, blocked punt, penalties and an int. I’m ok with int b/c at some point you have to throw it downfield and you can see why the ball isn’t thrown downfield too often. The receivers don’t get separation or come back for the fball. I think the Giants came out of this game thinking we’re getting better and can beat these guys while the Vikings I’m thinking they’ve been playing roulette often and their luck will run out.

Surprised how positive the mood seemed to have been here after the game. I couldn't watch football the rest of the day. That was gut wrenching. That being said, the Giants certainly proved that they can do more than hang with the Vikings. The Giants clearly lost that game by beating themselves. I want a rematch.
I'm still not sure we can hang with Philly, and I have no idea what we'd look like against San Fran...but if we escape any new injuries and get Adoree and McKinney back for the playoffs...I think the Giants can be competitive and possibly win a game or two.

Ritchie has lost two games for the Giants…..all by himself. You can't put that all on Richie James. His two drops were critical, but a lot of guys contributed with huge game changing mistakes and or missed opportunities.

Ritchie has lost two games for the Giants…..all by himself. Its a team game. He also has made some really clutch plays. The drops hurt but I think the biggest thing was the blocked punt. I'm hearing that was on the snapper not the punter.

FYI; SQB was open on the play.. Barkley was open on the int? That’s your take? Yeah Barkley was not open and he was at the line of scrimmage. Peterson may be a HOF guy having one of his best seasons. Sometimes you have to give the other guys some due. DJ should have thrown the ball more outside.

No QB is perfect.

Before the Viking game, some posters here repeatedly said Jones can't throw the ball downfield.
I said well before our losses that Daboll should not have been going with short passes and should have instead opened up the offense. He finally trusted his OL and WRs, and Jones and company ran a smooth offense that produced a lot of yardage thru the air. Equally importantly, Daboll had Jones throw more on early downs which I've been urging that the Giants do. But for mostly Neal's poor pass protection in the first half, the OL held up fairly well.
So the Giants showed they have a smooth passing offense thru the air that was complemented by it's running game. But for two dropped interceptions, a recovered fumble, dropped passes, and a blocked punt, the Giants would have likely scored more points or at least kept the Viking to scoring less points, and the Giants would have won the game.
Even so, the Giants were in the game with the Vikings facing a 3rd down and 11 yards with 18 seconds to play on the Vikings 40 yard line when Wink blitz when he shouldn't have. Wink has to be less predictable or otherwise the Giants will continue to be burnt on short screens.
The same myopic posters here point to Jones one interception and ignore that no Viking points were scored off his turnover.l, and they he drove the Giants back when they did later. Nor do they acknowledge that the Giants for the first time this season moved the ball well and gained a lot of yardage passing the ball downfield. Seems they're oblivious to that.
Hopefully, Daboll now realizes what the offense can be by attacking opponents downfield. He still needs to put in better downfield plays, and he shouldn't put pressure on Jones having to throw into tight windows. Jones still managed to make a lot of good throws with defenders bearing down on him. Very impressive.
On defense, the Giants need to play Collins over Moreau. I like Pinnock and Flott. They both just need more experience playing, and hope McKinney and Jackson return before the play-offs.
Even though this was a tough loss, the Giants offensive for the first time over the course of a game showed a lot of promise thanks to both Daboll and Jones.

FYI; SQB was open on the play.. Well it appeared to me that he was open in the slot at least briefly. Jones even looking in his direction. Yes we do want him to throw downfield but we also want him to throw to the open man. If the open man is in the slot then you go to him, keep the drive alive and move the chains

Constant complainers on here. He threw the ball downfield but he should have checked down. He checked down he should have thrown it downfield. You guys are haters that will never be satisfied or admit that he is playing pretty good with the players that he has around him. Pathetic that you all call yourselves Giants fans.

Good pass plays are designed to cause LBs and DBs to have to chose between covering one of two receivers and for QB to throw to open one. Speed of either receiver is irrelevant.
Also, setting up mismatches in speed between receiver and coverage player. See this often on crossing plays and deep throws.
Giants pass plays rarely do either.

I chose to look at the bright side as mistakes are going to be made in each and every game. Some more than others.
Without the Giants committing multiple Giants mistakes yesterday, the Giants would have likely have scored 35-plus points. That's what we want to see and now know the Giants offense is capable of.
Didn't see that in any previous game. So while no one likes a loss, we all should have confidence in the Giants offense. Saying the Vikings defense is not much is short-sighted as the Giants new offense looks like it would be effective against most opponents.
The Giants switching to now pushing it's downfield passing attack front and center, now makes the Giants running game so much more effective. ,We've seen that a Giants offense that relies mainly on running game, doesn't produce many points.
Unleashing Jones, an outstanding passer, makes all the difference. He'll learn from this game that if he misses on a rather long throw, he should miss long, not short. That should be an an easy lesson for him to learn since his passes are quite accurate. One can see when he sets-up to throw that he has confidence the pass will be completed.
The Giants need to see a few more games going forward to making few mistakes as they did in most previous games they have played.
The Giants getting back some injured defensive players, the defense should be better as well.
The Vikings game should serve as apositive sign that the Giants have taken their offense to a higher plateau. Hope it continues to flourish.
Happy holidays to all!
