I believe Simms went 22 out of 25 pass attempts. Still the best passing performance in SB history. And 2 of those incompletions were drops.
That performance and the goal line stand at the end of the first half will be memories for me forever.

I was happy for Simms, who took tons of abuse. I was happy for Carson and Martin, who played on substandard teams for years. I was happy for Tony Galbreath and OJ Anderson for the same reasons. I was happy for the beleaguered Mara family, who just wanted a winner and couldn’t get out of their own way for a while there. I was happy for us, the fans, who sat thru years of disappointing seasons. I was happy for the coaches and all of the other players, like Bavaro and Morris and the suburbanites and LT and Banks and Reasons and Burt.
Not really happy for Elvis Patterson, he seemed like a bad dude after he clocked Herb Welch. But I was happy for Herb Welch. Herb Welch. Not exactly a football name. More like the name of a CPA.
All tolled, I guess I was totally happy as a football fan for the first time in my life.

They were team mates 85-87 and don't know what happened after Toast went to the skins. Did they have a fight while team mates? By the way... checking out players on the Skins throughout their history, anyone who was on that team in their Redskins days is now listed as Commanders in their Bio in some places. Damn!! Really? They just wipe out Redskins for all those years? Those players played for the Redskins... NOT the Commanders. Whether it was Woke, or not, it was what it was. So, now we'll just deny the past? We don't have anyone with balls anymore. Let's change the name and wipe it out as though it never existed. From 1937 to 2019 they were the Redskins. Hell, they even renamed their song... Hail to the Redskins is now Hail to the Commanders.

Like all technological advances I can see this one having some down sides.> Like some time when someone says something seriously... and someone else laughs at it, derisively.. there will surely be some that use it mockingly.

Well, folks, the Giants are human after all. He practiced well on Fridays and told coaches on Sundays he couldn't run. "He's on another planet," said a teammate.

LOST EMPIRE GIANTS SHOW SIGNS OF UNRAVELING AFTER ONE GAME. By BOB HILL, NFL Writer
The New York Giants insisted that it wouldn't happen to them. Nope. Never. Not in a million years. The Giants wouldn't fall prey to the post-Super Bowl affliction that has claimed the hearts and souls of championship teams in the '80s.
Well, folks, the Giants are human after all. They may be unraveling and last week's devastating 34-19 loss to Chicago and the subsequent release of cornerback Elvis Patterson may only be the first threads pulled. Said a team official: "Heads have only begun to roll."
Patterson was cut more for his off-field problems than deficiencies as a defensive back.
The Giants reportedly had Patterson seeing a psychiatrist the last three years because of his often irrational behavior. He broke teammate Herb Welch's jaw after the '85 season over a weightroom stool. It reportedly was a sucker punch.
Last year, he missed 10 games with a groin injury. He practiced well on Fridays and told coaches on Sundays he couldn't run. "He's on another planet," said a teammate.
The Giants told Patterson he was on thin ice before the season began. He blew it last Sunday. He was out drinking and missed a team meeting the night before the Chicago game. Patterson insisted he missed the meeting because he was sick.
"Elvis," said a teammate, "is one of those guys who you just know, after football, is going to end up in jail."
The Giants waived Patterson without offering him around for trade despite the fact they had only two healthy cornerbacks.
The Giants have had problems enough without this. Injuries have hurt the team.
Cornerback Perry Williams (neck) is missed, as is rookie safety Adrian White (knee) of Florida. Offensive tackle Karl Nelson has cancer. There are reports of dissension, and attitudes are poor.
When Williams, White and linebacker Gary Reasons (two-week roster exemption) return, other notable players may fall. Among them could be backup linebacker Byron Hunt. Said one team official: "We have too many people who are just too happy to be here."
The Bears went through similar problems last year.
"The Giants are going to feel that pressure not only to repeat but to show up and look good every day," said Chicago defensive lineman Dan Hampton. "Football is a lot like life. It's not what you did last year, but what you did lately."
The Giants should feel better today. They play the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL's version of the Titanic.
Dallas is a 12-point underdog to the Giants today. Not since the Cowboys were 16-point underdogs to Cleveland Oct. 4, 1964, have they been treated with such disrespect by the oddsmakers.
At least one Cowboy isn't denying Dallas is a team in trouble.
"That's just what people are thinking of us, and I guess rightfully so," running back Tony Dorsett said. "We've earned it. I understand we've got the longest losing streak in the NFL, and until we correct that, we may see the points spreads go higher."
The Cowboys lost their sixth straight game last week, yielding 21 points in the final 1:58 of a 24-13 loss to St. Louis.
"We played like a lifeless bunch of drones," linebacker Jeff Rohrer said. "If we keep playing like this, we won't win a game all season."

Me, too. In the recesses of my brain I do kind of remember the Herb Welch broken Jaw, but I don't think I knew it was Toast. I thought it was practice injury.

"he followed behind him like his kid brother" - Madden (or something along those lines)......great Madden-ism.
