Mara's previous involvement in matters that should have only involved the GM and HC is one of the reasons we are where we are talent wise with this franchise... no its not. your opinion is noted and disagreed with, respectfully...

I have loved what the new GM and coaching staff have done since getting here. I would be both amazed and extremely disappointed if they felt OBJ was the way forward for this team.

I used to be neutral on Mara but he’s starting to piss me off. Whether or not he has any say, which allegedly he doesn’t, he shouldn’t be influencing a 2nd year GM and coach with his words (same with his comments on Barkley). STFU Mara. How would any of you feel if it was your 2nd year on the job and your boss is allegedly letting you make your own decisions but starts spouting off about what he’d like to see other than improving and/or winning? I hope Shoen and Dabs are big boys and don’t let that even effect their thinking one bit. He could have easily said “I have tremendous respect for both Barkley and OBJ but I’m letting the GM and HC make those decisions and I trust they will do what they feel is right for this organization which I will fully support”. I’m just some guy randomly typing while I’m doing cardio, why the **** can’t a multi billionaire figure that out by now, especially when he knows about all the rumors surrounding him making decisions? “We certainly haven’t closed that door,’’ Mara said Monday at the NFL owners’ meeting. “That’s going to be up to Joe and Dabs.Mara IS leaving it up to the GM and the HC. is the cardio taking blood from your brain? lol Probably you selectively left out another key part of the quote “I certainly would be in favor of that if they could make it work.” See how that works? Anyways, it’s not worth talking about anymore, I’ll let you have the last word if you want it, just don’t be too much of a dick (I know that almost impossible for you) or I’ll be FoRced to defend my fake online honor

He's probably the least outwardly opinionated owner in the NFL. The Mara hate on here is conspiracy theory nonsense. Always will be. He gave a diplomatic answer to a player the organization drafted that he's fond of. He's not influencing anything. It was literally "if Joe and Dabes think its a good idea, great" "if not, also great" Whatever you want to tell yourself. I think my response would have been much more appropriate. He could have left out the part where he would be in favor of it. What’s the difference if he said “I’m not in favor of it but if Joe and Dabs think it’s a good idea, great”. Do you think that’s a diplomatic answer as well? Saying he would like to see Barkley retire as a Giant? Again, how about neither you would or wouldn’t, leave it up to the GM and don’t give your opinion either way. BTW, wanting to see Barkley retire as a Giant would be a horrible business decision unless he plans on retiring in 2 years, 3 years max (most likely). Vinnie, unfortunately this is a situation of whatever you, in fact, need to tell yourself to stay angry at a bogeyman in Mara. There is objectively nothing wrong or controversial about what he said.

And for the record, I’m fully against signing Odiva but he’s right up Schoen’s alley minus being cheap. PRIOR food player, 30+ and significant injury history. What more could he want?

That's why he'd support it. Taking anything else from that is creating conflict where there is none.

Maybe get off the treadmill and do your own research. That exercise shit will kill you!!! I am pretty sure neither of will ever really get the last word.....ha

I hope they don’t sign him. It’s tough to tell the owner to mind his own business because the Giants are his business but I can’t understand why Mara would want OBrittleJ.
They’ve got this team in turnaround mode. No reason to throw it into reverse.

Incorrect. I specifically stated I’ve always been neutral on him but his decision of words pissed me off. I save my hate for primarily the cowboys and human garbage like Toney. I’ll tell you the same thing I told Game, you can have the last word, that’s really how much I don’t care about it. I gave an example of what I thought he should have said vs what he did say, that’s it. I’d rather argue about players, not the owner, that’s boring, unless it’s the one and only jerrah jones which most cowboys fans hate anyways so there’s rarely any arguing against themselves.

License Plate Guy alluded to Odell's negotiations being down to 2 teams and the Giants weren't one of them. You may remember I created a thread saying Odell would not be a Giant.

Perhaps he’s just doing him a solid and really has no intention of bringing him back. With all of the culture progress why risk it?

I mean, what does this really mean?
Q: “Mr Mara, Odell Beckham is still available and you have a need for receiving targets. Would you be opposed to him coming back?”
A: “I’d be in favour of bringing Odell back if Joe and Brian can make it work”.
What WOULD be news is if he said “yes, I don’t want him in a giants uniform again”.

Me too. I don't want to live in the past. Rather live in the future. Lets build the team with young guys who have good and great talent.

I know players that have played with him say very positive things about him. But it’s just as telling that the Giants, Browns, and Rams all had a chance to keep him and didn’t want to. Outside of the injuries, there’s clearly something about OBJ that turns non-players off. Actions speak a lot louder than words.

None of us spoke out about them when we were in school, or after graduation. Some of us even enjoyed how they frustrated those in charge - even though it may have effected our progress. The one from my school days is now a top attorney in our town, and still getting himself in trouble.
