Again, not to sound like a broken record, a win is a win. We got 2 points and had to come back to win it in the shootout. That is what mattered most today. We need to win game #82 against Ottawa to seal the Metro. That is all for now. I was happy to see Rempe out there and Brodzinski scratched. Even people that don't know shit about hockey can see the difference a 6'8" behemoth makes on the ice. We need to play like we did in the first half of period #1 except that way for a whole game when the playoffs get here. And that's all I say for now. We got 2 points... That's it. Oh no doubt brother. Felt good as hell. In the end when it came down to Igor vs Ilya it was a wrap. I think we need Chytil 5v5 in the playoffs. They played this possum game perfectly. Chytil put for the year with injury that happened in a practice skate with basically no witnesses. Well played gentleman. well, I think he was legitimately hurt. They sent him home

Biggest win of the regular season That felt like playoff hockey. The Islanders are a good team and they seem to be playing well. They'll be a tough out in the playoffs.

well, I think he was legitimately hurt. They sent him home I think they wanted to give him the whole season. oh yeah, no doubt. The whole collapsed on ice during a routine skate was disturbing to read. Like Crosby, hopefully he gets by the injury and has a good career for us and a life for him. He would be a huge addition and I anticipate this team is going to need him.

I hope that he makes the right decision for his long term health and well being. Would love to see him able to come back, he's very talented.

If Chytil does come back for the playoffs, I hope they give him a shot with 93 and 20. He’s a poor faceoff performer and putting him on the RW might give him a little less contact.

I am NOT loving how we are stumbling into the playoffs, sure the Isles are a pretty good team, but that flyers game the other day was a total clunker.
Rempe needs to be dressed during the playoffs, not only is he a strong physical presence, but he just changes the whole attitude and vibe on the ice.... And the crowd REALLY gets behind him

He works on his body control he should become a regular 4th line staple. Even more likely after we buy out Goodrow after this season

I like that they played a complete game tonight start to finish. A good one to end on. Caps in the first round would be great.

This regular season went better than expected for me. I'm mainly happy we won the Metro and the rest is a nice addition.
Game tonight was well played although a silent alarm or something went off in the Rangers' heads at like the 10-minute mark of the 1st and they stopped skating and working. Need to not do that in the second season but overall, no complaints. I think Rempe was a little too cautious in the game but played smart.
Panarin needs to do what he did this season in the post season and Igor looks stellar. If that remains and the Zibanejad/Kreider line starts getting it going like tonight, we'll be a tough match up.
I honestly have no idea how we'll do. We've played well against every single team that has made the playoffs... Not every game but more so than not. What does that mean in the playoffs? No idea but there really isn't any excuses now. Just dumb and bad play will hold us back.
I have said it earlier in this thread... No matter who we play in the first round we need to end the series in less than 7 games. Period. Show some killer instinct. If we don't... Then the pessimism in me will be ready for another disappointment.
Honestly, I don't think anything less than the Cup will be considered good enough. Win it all or nothing. We've waited too long. That's a harsh way to look at it but what else have we not done since the realignment in 2005-06?

after watching some of the pre-season, it looks like we failed to address any of the problems last year, and Quick (who looks terribly slow at this juncture) is huge downgrade from Halak. I'm not optimistic at all about the upcoming season (which means they'll probably do great, lol). I'll be here all season to bitch about it though... Lets just enjoy the ride, and have a or three I called it, in a way, lol...

I have a question for all of us.
So, after the cancelled 2004-05 NHL season, rules changed for the league. No more ties, no more two-line passes, among others. I consider that the new or modern era of the NHL much like in the NFL when the realignment happened in 2002. Before that period the game was different in more than a few ways, so my question has nothing to do with prior to the 2005-06 season.
The 2023-24 NHL season was the 19th since the new/modern NHL era began.
Our NY Rangers wrapped up their 19th season last night and in that time frame, we have gone to the postseason 13 of 19 times. We have gone to the ECF 4 times. Gone to the Stanley Cup Final once. Won the President's Trophy 2 times and have garnered numerous individual accolades for people on our roster such as the Norris, Vezina, maybe a Jack Adams... I'm not sure I don't keep track of them.
Here's my question... Has any other team in the NHL since the modern era had similar or greater success than us and not won the Stanley Cup?
If not, then we are so overdue to win a Stanley Cup.
Of course, that doesn't mean we will win it but I was thinking about it all last night after we won.

We get Washington, who got hot. Long time before we play though so like the matchup
How about Boston losing the division to Fla?
Montreal had the Wings beat as Philly battled Caps. Montreal game was over yet they shot for the empty net and got called for icing. Wings score with 3.3 seconds left off the face off after icing. Min later Washngton scores and the Flyers go from alive to done.

I’d say the most not other team to have solid regular season and playoff chances without winning in that time is Edmonton. But it’s still not as much winning and still being losers.

Great first game. I mean you always love it when you get goals from your 4th line but I ****ing love it even more that it was Rempe that got us going.
So, no real complaints for game 1. Panarin scores, Kreider scores, we were physical in all zones and we were defensively sound.
The only issue I had is with the shit refs. I'm not a fan of NHL officiating but even less so when they are making calls they did this game. I'd be surprised if both groups of fans were not happy with the refs in this game.
Now we need to maintain this type of play. That's it. Do what we did today in each game and we win this series in 5 games at most. As I have said, and I'm hammering this point home... We need to wrap this series up in less than 7 games.
So far so good. 1 of 16. I'm going to go drink now. Let's Go Rangers!!
