Going to the State vs UNC game tonight so I’ll get to watch Maye in person. Don’t be surprised if his draft stock plummets and he’s suddenly looked at as a late day-3 pick after this beat down he receives. 😃
Drake Maye’s stock plummets Peyton Wilson’s stock soars
Go Pack!

Exactly why I left Maye off my preference list. The Maye and Williams drooling a few weeks back was so off target.
I’ll stick with my opinion that Jayden Daniels as the best QB coming out in the draft.
Even though he hasn’t been asked to throw much lately and has been hampered by an ankle injury the last few weeks JJ McCarthy is still a close second.
McCarthy was 16 of 20 yesterday in The Game vs Ohio State. 1 touchdown no picks and several key escapes from the pocket and timely runs.
His TD pass was a laser between 2 defenders that made the Top 5 highlights.
The word is this is his last season at Michigan but he hasn’t addressed the topic because he is all about The Team.
Dillion Gabriel is my sleeper.
Penix - Nix - Williams are further down my list.

Sooo…what did you think of Maye?
It was the tale of two halves, honestly. In the 1st half the defense was swarming and he was shut out. In the 2nd he was much better. He had some big throws and had some big runs. At one point he had me thinking they might mount a comeback....but I feel that way watching every State game. We did knock him out of the game in the 4th and he didn't return, but he was moving around on the sideline afterwards. Not sure how serious it was.
I don't know. I've been watching some of the top ranked QB's recently and I think most of them can succeed in the NFL if they fall into the right spot. Maye included. He can make every throw, he can run, he's a big kid....he's what you want on paper. I simply haven't been wowed by him when I've watched him and last night was no different. Unlike other QB's in this class, I don't know if he can be the sole catalyst to turn a franchise around.
In other news, my man Payton Wilson (LB) continues to impress. It started as somewhat of a joke b/c I'm a NC State fan, but this kid is awesome to watch. He's one of those, "he's a football player," type kids who's gotten better each year. He flies around the field, he's always around the ball, he's a sure tackler, he can cover, etc. He was recently clocked at ~23mph chasing someone down to make a tackle, which is apparently one of the fastest times ever clocked? Either way, I think his instincts and athleticism would be a great compliment to Okereke and McFadden.

I thought McCarthy fell into the same bucket as Maye, Penix, and others in terms of having solid potential if everything around them is good. I don't see the hype in terms of him being able to turn a franchise around.
The hate for Williams continues to have me confused. I'm not sure if folks watch his games, but USC doesn't appear to have an OL and they don't appear to have much in terms of weapons (sound familiar?). The kid seems to run for his life on nearly every play but he continues to produce at a Heisman level. His biggest knock from what I've heard are his turnovers, which is valid, but most of those turnovers from what I've watched seem to be due to him trying to do too much. I don't see that being the case in the NFL with proper coaching.
Unlike most of the other QB's that I've seen in this class, I think Williams is one of the few who look like they can shoulder a franchise and turn things around in a less than ideal situation.

Didn't see your comment about Daniels....he's the other QB who seems worthy of a top-5 pick in my opinion. Couldn't agree more, he looks like an absolute stud. Might be my QB1 as well.

I have Danials in the 50s draft range. Not a suburb class at all. Not impressive. Reminds me of 2015 class.

Yeah…I’ve never been greatly impressed with Maye. He’s a decent QB, but I don’t think he’d be great. Very middle of the pack.
All of these QBs in this draft will have to go to the right system. And if you need a system…there’s no point in taking a QB high.
I think the difference between Maye/Williams and many others isn’t much.
Although, Williams is the guy that could be like Tua if in a great system.

not on Caleb Williams level...NOT EVEN CLOSE
it is like people building him up to try and tear Caleb Williams down but Caleb is BY FAR the #1 QB in the 2024 Draft if he comes out no question
Maye, Nix, Penix, Daniels...are decent alternatives if you need a QB and cannot get Williams but make no mistake, neither are "Better Than Williams"

If you're not a fan of Maye you should be rooting for the Giants to win, because I have a strong hunch Schoen loves him.
