Bobby Bonilla is still counting against the cap for the Mets. 10 years from now, $68M a year could be like $6.8M now the way inflation is going. It's really a 20 year $700M contract. Dodgers are definitely going after Moto now Thinking about it, this new structure could really ruin baseball. Why not just do this for every big time FA now? Why not the Yankees do it for Soto, and go get the next top 5 FAs and do the same thing. Maybe not as extreme, but say $10M the first 10 years and S50m per after. Seems genius but could really ruin the game. I would think MLB would ban this.

Here's what Russo thinks of Ohtani's contract. I actually agree with his sentiment. The 700 million dollar deal itself is crazy. The deferred 680 million makes it look even worse.

They have to put the present value (I dont know what irr they use) of the payout in an escrow account… so they still have to have a decent amount of cash. For the ohtani deal, its something like 44mill/yr they have to put into an account.

Awesome. I’m a SF Giants fan, but always enjoy when the Yanks are winning as well, think it’s great for the league.

Ohtani helping Dodgers recruit Giants target Yamamoto Shohei Ohtani hasn't stepped on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers yet -- and won't for a while after getting elbow surgery last September -- but he already is helping the team with its pitching. Recruitment pitching, that is. The two-way sensation was joined by Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and more during the Dodgers' presentation to Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Tuesday, The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya and Ken Rosenthal reported. www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/mlb/san-francisco-giants/mlb-rumors-shohei-ohtani-yoshinobu-yamamoto-dodgers/1681306/

Dodgers Rumors: The Athletic Predicts Yoshinobu Yamamoto Signs Massive Deal With Yankees Not the prediction Dodger fans want to see. One of the biggest names on the open market this winter is Japanese pitching sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He is the top starting pitcher available and has multiple teams vying for his services. It was reported that L.A. met with Yamamoto on Tuesday like he has been doing with interested finalists. He only has until January 4 to agree with a team due to posting rules. MLB insider Jim Bowden of The Athletic is predicting that Yamamoto will land with the New York Yankees this winter. He has him getting a 9-year, $304 million contract. www.si.com/mlb/dodgers/news/dodgers-rumors-the-athletic-predicts-yoshinobu-yamamoto-signs-massive-deal-with-yankees-ml0802

Don’t count the Dodgers out….
Betts, Freeman and Ohtani were at the Dodgers’ meeting with Yamamoto.

Yeah, I think the Dodgers are going full blast on the 2024 season. They want a dynasty. They are what the Yankee used to be back in the 90s early 2000s. Trade for whoever they want, pay who ever they want, whatever they want.
It started with that Betts trade, then getting Freeman who I desperately wanted the Yankees to get. Now Ohtani. And Glasnow. And possibly Yamamota

Could be Dodgers or Yankees or Mets. My guess is it will be Dodgers ultimately. They are the more desired location for a championship shot right now.

In baseball it doesn't burn any brighter than in the Bronx. I've also heard that he wants to he "the man", and he won't be in LA, so that bodes well for us as well.

Verdugo, and now Downs. New York Yankees claim shortstop Jeter Downs off waiversYou were so happy when you got him too... lol

Enjoy Verdugo when he loafs it down to first base. You mean like Stanton, Devers, etc... He is our 4th OFer. I dont like the guy anyway. This was more of a post about how the Red Sox got taken to the cleaners trading an MVP in Betts and we got all the dirty sox you were traded for him. Kinda hilarious. It would be like the Yankees trading Judge in his "62" year, and then the Red Sox having all the pieces the Yanks got for it a couple years later.

Enjoy Verdugo when he loafs it down to first base. Phil Plantier isn't coming out of retirement to save the Red Sox.

Can we all at least come together on one very important point.
That commercial where poor rich asshole Derek Jeter had his flight canceled and decided to brave the elements and risk certain death in his $100,000+ car to get home.........all while his trophy wife and their two computer generated children are looking out the window of their mansion with the faint hope that their mother's future ex-husband will somehow make it home alive..................
...............Is stupid.
