Can we all at least come together on one very important point. That commercial where poor rich asshole Derek Jeter had his flight canceled and decided to brave the elements and risk certain death in his $100,000+ car to get home.........all while his trophy wife and their two computer generated children are looking out the window of their mansion with the faint hope that their mother's future ex-husband will somehow make it home alive.................. ...............Is stupid. I guess he no longer has an Edge!!!

Loose lips sink ships. The Dodgers said next to nothing about their negotiations. Meanwhile in the Bronx, we have media leaks everywhere.

So, the Yankees aren't going to have much pitching again in 2024 are they?
Cole and....
Cortez coming off a shoulder Schmidt Rodon is the new Sonny Gray
Warren?
Add in a couple injuries they always get and it's another 85-90 win season.
Hopefully Soto doesn't leave after the season
Time to call up Monty and the #2 Japanese pitcher.

How do you guys feel about seeing the Dodgers spend this kind of jack in free agency? Is this good or bad for baseball?

So in 2034 and 2035, the Dodgers will be paying Ohtani and Yamamoto, just 2 players, a combined salary over $100M per year.
I know salaries keep going up but eventually they will stop or there will be a cap introduced in MLB.
Maybe they are just banking on the country being completely destroyed by then.

Hopefully we go whole hog after Monte, and maybe Blake Snell as well.
I guess that mint the Dodgers recently added to their back office is paying off...That's a lot of samoleans to spend, wowie.

So, more average pitchers. I love Monty but we already know what he is, a middle/back end of the rotational piece here. And what, pay him over $20M per year? Hes good for a high 3+ ERA and about 10-14 wins. The Yankees rotation is kinda like the Giants OL. You got Cole/Thomas, then everyone else is either trying to prove themselves or injury riddled. Cole - Thomas Cortez - Neal Rodon - Brederson Schmidt - Schmitz Yanks even have Ron Marinaccio, an Italian NJ native to go with Tommy DeVito.

Rumor the Dodgers are interested in buying the Tampa Rays. The Dodgers will keep what they want then designate what’s left to their AAA affiliate.

On another note, I saw most of Verdugo's media session yesterday. I like what I heard from him, seems to have his head screwed on tight.

Not yet, but this could be the year he gets some spot starts. Cashman has absolutely drained the farm system of any depth for pitchers. The only one left I think is Will Warren, a 6'2" 180 pound righty with a middle upper 90s fastball and a real tight slider. Im sure he will be the first call up. Chase Hampton is another name they talk about but I dont see him coming up in 2024.

Yankees add González on minor-league deal The Yankees have signed outfielder Luis González to a minor-league contract, according to Ken Rosenthal.
González, 28, was NL Rookie of the Month in May 2022. In 98 games for the Giants that season, he hit .254/.323/.360 (95 OPS+) with 17 doubles, two triples, four homers, 36 RBI, 31 runs and 10 stolen bases. He had back surgery last spring and returned to hit .248/.350/.352 in 31 minor-league games to conclude the season. He'll serve as organizational depth.

There is no question, Brian Cashman has pictures of Hal Steinbrenner on Epstein Island. Its the only reason why he is still here.

Red Sox are going to suck for a long time if this is their new budget....
“In the aftermath of the Yamamoto news, one industry official was speculating on how the Red Sox might pivot to find the necessary starting pitching. When I suggested free agent Jordan Montgomery as a good fall-back option, the official scoffed and offered that even Montgomery would be too expensive for the Red Sox’s current budget plans.”
