I don't agree that Daniels plays with reckless abandon. He doesn't get hit that often, he's very fast. I would expect he would just give himself up in the NFL and that is something that I believe can be coached. According the Kelly he's incredibly coachable and takes instruction.

Daniels the 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner declared he's shutting everything down to declare for the 2024 NFL draft. 40 TD's, just under 5,000 yds run and pass in 2023. He could be the 3rd ranked college QB coming out this year. Quite a number of the early mock drafts have the Giants targeting him. Many talking heads all excited. If we could stay in the first 5 picks we might have a chance for this guy. If we have to trade up from the #5 spot it might be a little cheaper in draft capital. The #5 slot is the best realistic earliest slot I think we could hope for in the draft. Many of you know college players better than me would this kid look good in Blue playing in N.J. ? Was this expected ? Love Daniels in the top 10, but prefer JJ Mcarthy. To me, this is the deepest QB class in quite some time. The fact remains that Daboll/JS will likely get fired with another terrible season with their current QB room (Devito/Jones) What do they do? tick tock. I agree that QB room is very weak, there is no successful future with those players I think we have to go QB even if it costs us draft capital to move up. We don't have cap room to go FA, DJ getting over 40 mil next year how much money we putting in the QB position ? It's gotta be the draft imo.

They have a "Day-1" problem at the position, not Day 2. Im very curious how the FO plays it out, 2025 looks grim at the position, do they have the capital to move up to a top 5 position for a less talented QB prospect that those available in 2024? are they looking at 2026? will they be around? lets see, hopefully they dont plan on letting DJ define them, losing battle IMO

Noticing how Richardson was a colossal failure his first year in Indianapolis gives me pause. Richardson was marketed as a QB prospect with a rare combination of size and speed the NFL has never seen - is bigger and stronger than Daniels but managed to get hurt almost every game.

POSITIVES — Elite athleticism. Excellent burst, agility, and speed for the position. — Above-average pocket management and toughness. — Above-average process within the pocket. Ties his feet to his eyes to remain in a throwing position late in the progression. — Good ability to create. Dangerous runner with sparse flashes of creativity as a thrower outside the pocket. — Very good deep-ball accuracy. Consistently drops it in the bucket. NEGATIVES — Skinny frame with a reckless abandon as a ball-carrier. Opens himself up to future injury. — Mediocre velocity. Can sometimes struggle driving the ball into tight windows. — Inconsistent accuracy to the short and intermediate areas, especially if not throwing on time.
This is what scares me since most of the game as evolved with these type of passes. It should. We need someone who is deadly accurate on the short/medium routes. The ability to lead a receiver. Throwing deep is one thing that can be masked by good WRs making adjustments on routes or jump balls. Throwing short requires very good QB skillset that is not easily something that can be taught or learned. Thats why I keep saying, he could be a Justin Fields type QB. All flash and not a great QB. Or he could be Lamar Jackson who can actually thread needles. As of now Im still on board with him as a QB target for us.

Richardson was a colossal failure? In what world? The same world in which Jones is a success story? Richardson flashed talent but got injured often....so to be fair I can't make final judgement yet. The play style just didn't translate...maybe it was bad luck but injuries happened most games he played. Next year is a new year, hopefully he can outperform Minshew and the injuries don't happen. DJ saw some success as a rookie finishing almost with a rookie all-time TD passing record with an aged, post-PED Golden Tate as WR1...then went on to get a playoff win, offered big time money, and a Mahomes comparison from Chris Collinsworth. Understand people being unhappy with DJ and wanting to move on but DJ accomplished a lot more as a rookie than Richardson.

Daniels is a different type of QB. Richardson was not a great QB at Florida. Daniels is a great QB at LSU. Both are phenomenal athletes first. Richardson is more Cam Newton though but much less a QB, while Daniels is more of a Lamar Jackson.

I think we'll be dealing from the 4th or 5th slot. We can't wait till '25 or '26 we need a QB day 1 in 2024 season. From the 4th slot is so much bigger than the 5th slot. IMO 3 QB's are going in the first 4 picks. We need that #4 position and have an excellent chance this weekend to wind up there. We lose to Philly, Bears beat Ariz., Wash. beats the Jets. Bingo we drop from the 6th slot to the 4th slot with the 2 teams in front of us winning. That would be my Christmas present from the Giants this year. Sorry truth I got side tracked, yes we need that QB with the 4th pick or trade up to get him. This is our best chance to straighten this mess out we must make it work.

I didn’t think much of a Richardson at Fla. The college stats between the two QBs isn’t even close.

IMHO Richardson, Fields, and of course Jackson are all better QB's than what we have. Plus there's a future with everyone of them. I also at this point am all in on Daniels.

How could we possibly trade up? Give up future draft picks I assume or is trading a player on the table at all in that time frame? I wouldn't mind seeing an Ernie Accorsi type move, at least it would give me something exciting as a Giants fan to watch.

What people often don't know is that Brian Kelly told Daniels every week that he was not the bona fide starter, that it was always a competition between him and Nussmier and the better QB would get the nod. I'm sure that was just gamesmanship but he said "Jayden never failed to elevate his game a little each and every week." Rarely did you see a bad game out of him. I have not seen Drake Maye play at all and just watched a highlight, he has some amazing across the body throws (a la Eli hahahahah!!)

Richardson was not just marketed as such, mathematically his combine was the 100th percetile. Meaning, the best weight adjusted QB - ever. Daniel Jones has got hurt in 5/6 seasons and his rookie year DJ had as many turnovers as he did TDs. Its only impressive if you ignore fumbles. The thing with DJ is, even at his best, his TD to turnover ratio is always near 1:1. Which is trash in this day and age Richardsons sample size is 4 games. Unlike Jones, we really dont know what he is yet. We know exactly what Jones is.

One read QBs are not going to cut it in this league. Jones/Devito have production which is almost exclusively schemed up
Giants have a day-1 QB problem folks. The only question is, is our FO smart enough to not double down on a sunk cost? Im not confident. Egos die hard

The more I hear about this Caleb Williams the more nervous I get. Giants fans thinking Williams isn't Giants material is one of my favourite off seasons stories. One that won't age well People said that about Darnold and Rosen too. Wake me up in two years and let me know how this aged. Williams is trash and won't succeed in the NFL.

Comical I don't think Williams will be a successful NFL QB, that's regardless of how his rookie year goes. Baker Mayfield had the best rookie year ever for a QB and he is on his fourth team now.
I'm committed to my opinion, that doesn't mean that I would bet money on every single opinion I have lmao.
