I really like him but his injury history is so concerning

He’s always been my favorite but the injuries are a concern. It would be pretty sweet if we could nab him with one of our 2nds.

His throwing is so accurate, shows good pocket presence/awareness and has good athleticism. He's also been healthy for the last 2 seasons, so perhaps the injuries are behind him. If he does well next Monday, he'll shoot up a lot of boards, me thinks...

On the other side of things, watching the start of that Ala game and seeing them give up 5 plus sacks in the game I would've thought Evan Neal had suited up..............

I think it was Danke who brought up the fact that Penix is a southpaw and how it would be that much more critical for a good RT, I keep forgetting about that. Why can’t you sons a bitches just be normal like everyone else?

If he does well next Monday, he'll shoot up a lot of boards, me thinks... Those of us of a certain age remember that Phil Simms was tagged early on with being "injury prone." He wound up being a very durable QB for us in an era when QBs were not coddled by the rules.

I think that he will go before the second ... some team will convince itself that because he has been healthy for the last 2 seasons, that means that his injury history is behind him.

Really grown to love him outside of his injury history.
Maybe this isn't as big a deal as I think it is, and you probably shouldn't make decisions based on it, but I'd find it odd to have Neal or someone not Andrew Thomas protecting our QB's blindside since he is a lefty.

Penix has had 2 ACL surgeries and a surgery on his throwing shoulder in college. Has been healthy for the last 2 years though ….

What a great arm, poise and confidence. Happy for him!! Great games today! He would be top 3 and still might be if his injury history wasn't so bad he will be hard to pass on he fits what Daboll wants to do is run an offense like we saw yesterday. His arm talent is second to none in this class.

That might be a tough transition for Thomas. Think either it's Neal or they draft a stud that is a natural RT because Neal is not a natural RT and many point to that as part of the reasons for his struggles, he has shown dominant reps in both the run and pass game can he get consistent with it, we will find out don't think they are ready to quit on him yet. As far as Penix goes teams probably love his arm talent someone will take the plunge but it is a good point being a lefties his right side protector will have to be stout.

Once he thickened up it was just that freak foot injury vs the Bills in the regular season that made Jeff Hostetler a household name. Penix looks like the pick of the litter to me, even earlier in the season when I started watching QBs. Effortless passes with touch when he needs it. Quick decision maker. Most importantly he looks very confident yet not cocky.

Pocket awareness, ball placement and arm strength are all A’s in my opinion. As much as I like him putting him behind our O line would be a career death sentence.

I guess you have to weigh the weight of your confidence in the QB vs. investments already made in Thomas. Does he move, does it matter etc.? Personally, I'd agree with you that he doesn't move and we get a good RT or Neal rebounds from the bust path he is on. There is a part of my brain that thinks it would be crazy to pass up a guy you loved because he happens to throw with the wrong arm for your oline setup 😂...but at the same time, I also get it.

I watched him vs. Oregon and I was not sold at all. But he was by far the best player on the field last night. His pocket awareness and arm talent jumped off the screen yesterday. He was throwing absolute darts all game. He made one play where he evaded a pass rusher and threw a tremendous pass in the middle of the field that was very "Lamar-like".
I think he's a top 10 pick at this point. He may not even make it to us at 5 (if that's where we pick)

His arm talent is second to none in this class. Yeah, he has a weird throwing motion but throws the most accurate lasers in college ball. Hell, he looks NFL ready and can start Sunday right now, and be one of the better ones.... with a OL of course. Not sure he's a fit for us though being he is generally a pocket passing QB....with those injuries and the system we run, I think we pass on the best passer, and get a guy who can run scramble and create with an NFL arm. Now if we had a all pro OL.... I work with a guy who caught passes in college from him as a WR, and he swears he can throw the ball 100 yards. Can't find any tape of that so I'm a bit skeptical. Still, that ball comes out whistling.

Most importantly he looks very confident yet not cocky. That was when the beast of the east ran supreme.. To play in this division with a bullseye on your back against the doomsday defenses in Dallas.. Then jump on the hurt express to Philadelphia against Reggie White, Clyde Simmons and Jerome Brown. And if you still had the courage for more punishment. Head down to the capital against Charles Mann, Dexter Manley, and that ferocious Washington defense. No one.. and I mean no one was tougher than Simms. He played when defensive ends would drive you into the green spray painted cement. Only quarterback crazy enough to tell Randy White to go **** himself.. Tough as nails to square up with Ronnie Lott. And strong as an ox to lift with the offensive line. And there was no chucking and ducking from him. He followed through with every pass.. and paid the ultimate price for it.

I tend to agree with you about the fit as far mobility goes think he has the arm to do the things Daboll wants to do, he wants his offense to look more like it has with TT making defenses respect most if not all of the field. I'm at a point where they need get a QB in here but I'm concerned that desperation might creep in they the one later that has little chance, or paralysis sets in and they stand pat with Jones I wanted to see him with a fair shot and now saw it and know for sur ehe is not teh answer he barely challenges a defense. Be nice if we could get one of th 3 mobile guys Williams or Daniels / Maye.
