First off, I WANT to like Herbert as the clear cut 1st round pick.
We all know we need a qb, but all the experts keep saying how bad this qb class is compared to last year, and how great next years class will be with Tua, Fromm, and Eason. Do we take the best qb this year and hope for the best, do we wait til 2020, do we trade for carr or someone else.
I wonder how Herbert compares to all the qbs from last years class. IMO he seems like a less turnover prone Sam Darnold, he has the size, speed, pocket presence, but his field vision and reads arent the best
Just want to see how you guys see Herbert and how you think he compares to last years qb's and maybe even 2020's qb's, who i really dont know much about other than theyre supposed to be real good, like 3 qbs in the top 5 good

Herbert has all the tools Josh Allen has basically, but much better accuracy in my opinion. Though, I am not the biggest fan of the system he plays in and the whole clap to snap the ball thing, but it is pretty common in college.
I think he has the makings to be a very good QB in the pros.
The good thing is that we will be bad enough to have options. We can go QB (Herbert preferably), we can get an excellent DL in Oliver or Bosa, or we can trade back and get more picks.
I have a hard time buying in to the idea of waiting until next year to get a QB. I like that class a lot dont get me wrong and I like Trevor Lawrence a lot too, but he has to play 2 more years after this one.
I think Dwayne Haskins is an interesting player to consider. Lightyears better at being an actual QB than the Ohio State QB's we are used to. He can declare this year, but definitely not a certainty that he will
I think Herbert has a chance to be as good if not better than any of the QB's that came out last year. Personally I didn't love any of those guys coming out and I like Herbert's all around ability better than any of them

I see the josh allen comparison, i feel like he is a less turnover prone sam darnold... with worse field vision. I feel like he could have been a 1st rounder last season.

Yeah his vision is a little worrisome since he does seem prone to locking on guys. I love his ball placement though. He rarely puts it in places where anyone else can make a great play on the ball other than his WR. I do feel like he is less turnover prone than Darnold as well, but Darnold was probably my favorite QB last year. I think Herbert is a nice modern day QB, good athleticism, strong arm, good placement, etc. I would like to see him go through progressions better in the weeks to come

It's fun to dream about Herbert, but I feel like it is a huge longshot that we get him.
The only way that we insure that we get him is if we get the #1 pick, and there are some real bad teams (Oak, Arizona) in addition to us. I also think that with all of the talent we have on offense, we'll win a couple of games by accident to put us at 5 wins or so and take us out of the running for Herbert.

NO WAY is az calling it quits on rosen already, I COULD see Oakland trading carr and drafting Herbert.... Then again, unless we change something we could easily be picking 1st overall

Gardner Winshew looks good in this one 😋.
Herbert...not a great half.

The thought of having the #1 pick in the draft is about as depressing as anything I can imagine. it would suggest far deeper problems than just the QB position.

Herbert's floor is quite high in comparison to Allen.
I see Wentz. Maybe a bit of Andrew Luck too.

Well apparently it sounds like Herbert isnt coming out until 2020. Guess this changes things big time, we could draft Ed Oliver the DT from Houston, put him at DE, shift Tomlinson to NT and cut Snacks. Maybe draft CB Greedy Williams and cut Jackrabbit, cut OV and draft Bosa, or draft OT Jonah Williams put him at RT, and then when we can cut Solder in a few yrs shift Jonah to LT.....I dunno, maybe this is a blessing in disguise and we can address many positions and save QB for 2020, i guess im just being hopeful
