When the Giants draft a WR at 6, don't be coming in here all surprised
“Let’s stop messing around,” Rudolph said. “I give the Giants credit, they’ve tried to bolster the offensive line with first-round picks and in free agency, but it hasn’t worked as well as they hoped. Can we get the guy a No. 1 wide receiver, please?”
“How can you judge someone who has played in the NFL for five years now and he’s never had a No. 1 wide receiver? What quarterback goes five years without being given a No. 1 wide receiver?" he said.
"John Mara said it before last season, we’ve done everything to screw this kid up. It’s like okay let’s stop doing everything to screw him up and maybe go get a game-changing wide receiver for him."

Amazing that a career back up came in and made this offense look more functional in a half a season than Jones has in 5 years but Jones still gets every excuse in the book. Jones should be arrested for impersonating a starting NFL QB.

Trade down.
Just a dumb fan but there’s a 95% chance one of those 3 options is the move.
I still think trade down is a bigger part of the puzzle than most commentators are considering. Some of the trade downs mocks I’ve seen are obsurd. The latest being Denver taking our 6th and DJ for their 1st this year and 1st next year.
With all the frenzy, so many fans and commentators think of Maye/Daniels/JJ as interchangeable. Nabers/Odunze/Harrison are interchangeable (not Harrison, but the point is if you don’t get Harrison they assume you’re taking both of those other two in the top 8 picks.
The more I think about this relative to other drafts the more I think that one of these “no brainer” picks is going to slide much farther down the board than people think.
I remember the Josh Rosen year and how “motivated” he was by being drafted much later than most analysts had him going.
This year seems to have a similar feel.

Jones should be arrested for impersonating a starting NFL QB. Both things can be true. He can be a career backup and he can have been given virtually nothing to work with over his career. JS assessment was right IMO. They’ve done basically everything you could do as a franchise to screw him up. That fact doesn’t mean he’s fixable. I think the success ratio of 1st rd QBs is so low because other than extremely rare cases, you need coaching/a roster/talent/work ethic/health all at the same time to make a young QB successful. Everyone thinks Dabs is some QB whisperer, but I think he had all 5 with Josh Allen. Coaching isn’t enough. Same thing with Mahomes. Definitely Purdy. I’ve watched it with DJ. He was so turnover prone early in his career. By the time he got to Judge they were coaching him to do anything but turn the ball over. Then he gets a similar version of that in his first year with Dabs. Now he looks like he can’t throw it down the field at all without being laser focused on one target. TT and Devito both showed they could read a defence deep and hit guys downfield. He can’t. And I don’t think that’s just an innate lack of talent. This roster and its shortcomings built him that was too. |

I see zero chance this happens. Denver wouldn't have a 1st round pick for 4 years...and still wouldn't have a good QB. If Schoen pulls off this trade, Mara should give him a lifetime contract! |

If someone thinks Daniel Jones is going to become a championship QB just because he gets a Top Tier Receiver they’re fooling themselves. He hasn’t been just provided with chumps at WR since he got into town. The issues with Jones go deeper. Pocket presence - turnovers - decision making - not seeing the receivers when they are open are all issues. We need a freaking QB. Jones has looked uninspiring for the most part since he arrived. He’s looked great on occasion over the years but regresses more than progresses. If we can get Harrison at 6 I’m good with that. Maybe Penix will fall to the second. Nabers is still 20 and hot and cold with consistency and effort. Odunze was handled by Michigan’s defense in the championship game. Separation is a concern according to some reports. Really good WR’s should be available until mid second round. But if we want a sure thing to help DJ #6 needs to be Brock Bowers. Follow that up with McConkey or Legette in the 2nd and then the no target excuse can be extinguished. |

If the Giants are willing to part with two 1sts to move up 2 spots then I think the 4th is theirs. All it takes for that to not happen is for whomever is available at 4 isn’t someone the feel like betting their career on. That’s “interchangeable” point I was making. I didn’t think it was likely either until JJ at #2 started getting discussed. |

I don't think so.
But I think it's fair to question if he's now damaged goods as a player and can he stay healthy?

Jones fooled a lot of people including me. He has all the athletic tools except for one major thing... he's awareness in the pocket is very limited.
I am no Scout but he doesn't have the radar that you need to sense and feel the pressure and at the same time making plays down the field or knowing when to move and run.
He is a step behind and that's not something you teach. Your born with that ability. Josh Allen comparisons are completely ridiculous and outrageous. Tyrod Taylor has more awareness then Jones by a mile.
I have no dislike for DJ I only know the team needs a QB. 5 years us a good sample size. All the supporters will continue with excuses. My advise is to let it go. Move on!

If all 4 are gone by then, and Vikings didnt' trade up to one of them, it could be a possibility. I'm assuming that they will be gone by 6 Chargers are willing thye are looking for WR of OL help thye can get both with a slight trade down and the Cards are taking calls if the Giants want one they will have to get their ducks lined up. |
