I still think that if a deal does get done it won't be until the Patriots are officially on the clock, in order to pressure us and any other team interested in their pick to provide maximum amount of compensation.
Would you do this deal or is it too much?

Not shocking. If they think Maye is their Josh Allen, you do it in a heartbeat. If there is even a shred of something that lacks that level of conviction, you do not do it. I'd hope that there could be a negotiation that keeps our second round pick this year ideally though.

way too much to give up for these prospects, IMO. I'll be pretty annoyed if we make that desparation move. I think we'll do much better building the team with our picks.

I would not do this for anyone but Jayden Daniels. I hope they just stay put, take BPA and if they need to trade up in 2nd round to get a guy like Nix then so be it.

It’s not about whether you need a QB (the Pats need a QB too), it’s what you think of Maye.
He’s either worth it, or he’s not.

Even if the Giants love Penix or Nix, they should draft them at 6. If that's your guy then get him, don't wait and hope you can get him or trade picks to move back up to get him.

I’m not a Maye fan but for those who say “too much to give up”. What’s your ultimate plan?
1) Build up the team, in which they should get better, then draft a QB next year or the year after (while paying Jones for his 3rd year) when this years 2nd and next years first will look like chump change compared to what we’ll have to give up if we pick in the mid to late teens and we’ll still be taking just as much of a risk on a QB as we are now
OR
2) Keep taking shots at a QB with late round picks and hope we find one of those diamonds in the rough that rarely happen while our roster gets older and requires more and more money to keep together
OR
3) Pay a good (not great) FA QB, if one is available, a new record setting contract in hopes he can bring our team to the promised land. Keep in mind, by that time, Thibs, our new #1 WR, Banks, and a handful of others will also want huge contracts if they’re worth a shit and we won’t be able to pay them all
I’m just curious what your game plan is because none of those options seem like a good strategy when we probably won’t be in a better spot to pick a QB then we are now. And please don’t bring up Purdy or some other late round QB that has worked out because they don’t the majority of the time and if you do, I can name more pro bowl WR’s taken in late rounds than QB’s so it’s a moot point anyways.

The trade is the reason why the Bears have the #1 pick this year and another top 10 pick.

If that’s your 4 season win numbers, I think JS gets another 4 years. I think Mara is desperate for continuity in the GM chair. He’s looking for an excuse to keep JS I think. People that quit on JS because of that DJ deal are probably out of step with our owner, who didn’t and probably still doesn’t hate that contract. Anyone with ears knows he’s got a thing for DJ. If a QB falls to JS that he likes there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that he picks him. Literally no question. But he won’t pick a QB so he can say he addressed it. I think he knows his boss better than we do, and I bet he just needs to give Mara an excuse to keep him. That’s virtually impossible if he trades 4 draft picks and the QB sucks (which is a possibility no one can deny).

Very simple...and the reason why we can, we are at 6...still in the stud zone. Patriots will want a stud. Going into next year with Jones and Lock ...oh and a incredibly talented superman disguised as a wide receiver...we are still 1 or 2 injuries on the OL from becoming last year...Jones and no ability to let our superman fly up in the sky and catch the ball because Jones is sacked or running out of bounds...or worse, head first into a linebacker. Give this team a new face ....Maye has top 5 QB upside, yeah sure, as well as that math that says bust to average ....to try again as we sit in QB hell. Jones is simply not the guy.....sorry. Jones fans I am here for you...

Their GM fires coaches every other month. Their QB has also had 1 year, Jones is going on 6. Houston drafted a QB who suddenly turned former scrub WR’s into good WR’s and elevated the entire team while carrying them on his back (unlike Jones) to the playoffs his rookie year.

It’s not about whether you need a QB (the Pats need a QB too), it’s what you think of Maye. He’s either worth it, or he’s not. Maye is a guy that if he gets his feet straight will be batting Williams for years to come like Allen and Mahomes he has the second best arm talent in the entire draft. still think they should build the roster that number 2 is a high value pick in this draft that is 4 .5 rounds strong then falls hard after that. If they do it I don't blame them it will get them 2 more years because he most likely won't play the first year sans fro a hand full of games at the end of the year.

An extra first and our second is not unreasonable at all. If this is for real, it should be a done deal.

Jones fans I am here for you... I’ve asked this question at least 3 times over the past 3-4 months and only had one response (can’t remember who but I respected their answer even though I disagreed) now I literally laid out the only 3 options to make it easier for them to answer and I bet I still get crickets. Unless they think Jones is the long term solution or that this team will get worse this year, there is no legitimate reason not to take a shot at a QB now. I agree, they’re all a gamble, but I would rather gamble next years first and this years second then what it would take to move up for that same risk if we’re picking later in the draft next year with an alleged weak QB class which would make it an even greater risk. I also seriously doubt moving up for Penix or Nix from the 2nd will be an option because I would be down with that if I thought there was any realistic possibility.

That will probably lead to another top 10 pick next year, which we won't have. Taking top position players in this draft should yield us 2 starters, improving the team. If we take a flyer on one of the lower tier QBs, who knows how that will work out. Could use Lock as a bridge QB, or as you say, sign a mid-tier FA, or pick a QB in next years draft. Lots of unanswered variables. I think Mayes bust potential is too high to spend that kind of capital, and while McCarthy has a lot of traits that could make him a really good QB, he simply wasn't asked to do it at Mich, so that is a huge unknown.

They will have a tough time building this team through the draft if they give to much up does he survive to see his QB grow I have no Doubt Maye has the goods an is QB2, he has to clean up his feet but the rest is there in spades. This is what Joe gets paid for to make the right move when the decision has several choices some that require no draft capital others that require several picks.

If this is for real, it should be a done deal. Have to remember when Accorsi traded for Eli the fan base was split it took a strong decision maker to get that done and not play games if they believe in him and they have the chance to get him I think Schoen will do it. That said Minnesota has more to give they already have their #1 and a good roster so they can afford to part with 3 #1 picks.

The only issue I have is our roster needs help can Schoen pull an Accorsi and crust next years draft with out a #1 and make what would be left of this draft at least get 1 starter tall order when the draft is 170 player short because of under classmen returning to school fro the NIL money.
