This has been said so many times, and rarely disputed. Not much talk about Alt being the first pick, but trading back is certainly a feasible option and maybe other teams after #6 have more pressing needs than their line. You can still get a receiver, and theoretically he will get more chances with better protection. RB by committee also becomes more effective. I'd have no issue with this route.

It's a generality, but pretty much true. It's hard to cover NFL wrs for long. I will say it makes me sick to watch how much time other QBs have in the pocket compared to ours over the past decade+. Especially the egals and boys.

Yeah , But even the worst NFL defense can spoil that party.

But selecting a receiver early and not improving the protection much may not gain you so much, and these guys do like to vent about not getting the ball enough.

Yeah , But even the worst NFL defense can spoil that party. A QB needs to know when to just throw it away, a good line will give you a nice percentage of downs to take advantage other times.

I'm guessing the Chargers take Alt.

Alt is great but I think with our improvements WR makes the most sense here. I wouldn't complain if we take Alt though. I agree with the mocks predicting Alt to the Chargers though. Fuaga is a nasty RT that I really wanted but he flew up the draft boards and almost zero chance he falls to round 2.

For us, I'd prefer Fuaga, who is a natural right tackle, and a frickin beast...

Any serious suggestion of what JS could do with this first pick doesn’t freak me out.
It’s a good place to be. A few weeks ago I hated 6. There’s options. And fans have preferences but none of them suck. There’s talent early in this draft, but there always duds. Avoid the duds and we’ll be fine.

I agree, an unbalanced team is not going to win a lot of games. We've proven that for over a decade. We had probably the best RB that got hit behind the los constantly. I doubt DJ at this point, but I hope they don't trade up for one. We are not a QB away from being competitive. And being competitive is the next goal. Just MO.

I thought they let their best vet receivers go in FA?

I thought they let their best vet receivers go in FA? I've just been hearing Harbaugh will target that Oline first.
