I was at the game tonight. What a funeral parlor that place is. The place was pretty empty and the crowd had no life. Too bad too, because it's a nice park. Also, Callaway is history. He might have gotten it after the last series and I know I said by the AS break but unless this team goes on a tear (lol) I don't think he makes it through June. I still haven't been to Citi Field. I wont be going until they put a competitive team on the field. And Callaway isnt a good manager, but this team is not his fault. The new GM has (so far) struck out on every guy he brought in except Diaz. He actually traded 3 players for Broxton, who after a month and a half of the season has been DFAed. It like groundhogs day with this team every year. If they pitch they dont hit and vice versa.

The Mets did a great job with Citi Field.

I hope they turn it around. They have only occasionally been shit. The problem is (as in past years) they have to be almost perfect or they lose. It would be nice when they have a bad outing that the rest of the team could pick them up. But that almost never happens.

He's not the reason the team sucks, that remains the fault of the ownership but the stupidity of signing that lazy washed up pos is on him.

It was a typical Met move - trade for an older star on the downside of his career, just to give the fans a "Name." And now we will pay him $24 mill a year for the next 5 years.

It was excepted when he hit .320. I thought the guy from the A’s they got would have been a nice addition. He hasn’t even played.

Cespedes was almost as bad a signing as Bobby Bonilla.

I would like to see Wally in the Met's dugout, but it's never going to happen as long as the Wilpons own the team. They want a yes man, not a guy that will question them. And Wally is talking to minor league players, not guys that are making 10/50/100 times his salary. It's a lot harder to do those types of speeches in the big leagues.

And in the article I read about this it says the Mets have insurance on his contract, but they will continue to count his total salary in the team total. So, in other words, they will not use the insurance money towards acquiring new or better players. Only the Mets...

They want to see if he can return to forum next season. Hitting is not like riding a bike . It is one of the hardest things in sports to master. Being away form a 100 MPH fast ball is not something you just step up to the plate and hit. More often than not ,age is a constraint to producing that magic again. The longer he is away . The harder it will be for him to produce at a high level. This is what I question. What I do not get is why Cespedes was not rehabbing every day in the team facility. That alone I would question his motivation on returning in a timely manor.

If he cant do baseball activities, what could he possibly have been doing to fracture his ankle in multiple places?

Even if the Mets void the contract and the insurer pays a bulk of the tab due to his qualified absence, he is still getting paid 29 mil this year and 29.5 mil next year. Your post is 100% on the money. His age and time away from the game does not help matters at all. If I were the Mets, I would void the contract immediately and just take the L.

The Mets are about making money. Does voiding the contract impact the insurance payout? If so, they'll never do it....nor will they re invest the money in real players. Then they double down on that mistake by finding Cano, the only player in the league that's a bigger dog than Cespedes. Unbelievable. But then again, completely believable. It's the Mets.

Exactly, this is just like the article calling out their payroll as BS. Yeah it's 155 million so long as you don't count the 40+ million they are getting back in insurance payout on Wright and Cespedes. The Coupons doing their best to create fraudulent appearances for fans. Most Mets fans are smarter than that though.

The Mets, the Jets, the Redskins, the Knicks, I'm sure there's many more. You can't win with a stupid meddling owner.

deGrom needs to remember how to pitch. He is putting no one away recently, tonight 50 pitches after 2 innings.

Aren't the Mutts still paying Bonilla like $1 mil a yr 20+yrs after he left the team? Ahhhh, only the Mutts I tell ya. Just like the Jests, both are cursed organizations. Both owners back in 69' made a deal with the devil to beat the much better powerhouse Baltimore teams in the WS/SB. They've been paying for it ever since. Yeah, they won the series in 86' but that team was loaded & shoulda won at least 2 more from 84'-90', blew that series vs LA in 88' when they had owned LA all yr with like 11 wins in 12 games.
