I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that Noah and DeGrom are our 2 worst starters at the moment. Utter trash really. Meanwhile we continue to get outstanding quality from Matz and Wheeler. It would be nice if the 2 "aces" came around. Additionally, now our plan is to get 4 useful innings out of Vargas per start and we refused to guarantee Gio Gonzalez a rotation spot leading to him signing with the Brewers instead? I'd love to hear the logical explanation for that. I'm still wondering why the Yankees didnt find room for Gio myself. They will need him sooner or later. As for Degrom and Thor, I didnt realize they were struggling. I remember DeGrom had his elbow issue though a few weeks ago no? Could be why. DeGrom is physically fine, as is Thor. They just aren't locating, both of them are saying mechanics. It's so bad that I wonder if the Mets signs are being stolen. I don't know how you go from practically unhittable to tossing batting practice. We definitely should have added Gio. We are excited because every 5th day we are surviving 4 innings of Jason Vargas. You made these moves to seem like a serious contender and now sticking with this tool flies in the face of all of it.

Happened to Luis Severino last year. Dominant ace the 1st half, batting practice most the 2nd half. Rumor was he was tipping pitches but they couldnt figure it out.

Thank God. Always hurt, and when he isn't hurt he is a below average catcher and hitter. Can't believe he lasted this long.

Familia blows another save. Down to a final strike and he gives up 2 runs.
He used to give you a heart attack but get the save more often than not. Now he has no control.

Mickey Callaway needs to be fired. His baseball decisions are mind boggling. Even if we manage to contend, he is going to f**k us down the stretch with his decisions. Awful.

I'm calling it now. If the Mets remain like they are, Callaway is replaced by Riggleman mid season.
The second half will show marginally better results and that'll be the offseason marketing pitch. Wilpon probably has marketing doing some mock ups now.

Wilpon probably has marketing doing some mock ups now. While I firmly believe that baseball managers are the least important of all major sports, I can't understand what goes through MC's mind. You can sabotage your team, which he has already done to the tune of 2 if not 3 losses this year. These games can be crucial as the year winds down. I mean I didn't always back TC's decisions, but compared to this guy he was Tony LaRussa. Isn't Dusty Baker out there? A by the book guy that players like. Management has to see that this guy is a joke. You know how the Wilpons are about committed money though, he'll probably stay.

In tonight's frustrating edition of the Mets, DeGrom shows up and the bats haven't.
EDIT: I could be pissed with Diaz for giving up his 2nd ninth inning homer this series, but if the Mets had score ONCE it wouldn't be an issue. F***!

It was nice to see deGrom improve. But IMO, he still is not back to what he was. He seems to be throwing almost all fastballs, and hitters keep fouling them off, leading to high pitch counts early in games. He just doesnt seem to be able to throw his other pitches for strikes reliably, and cant finish batters off. And overall, we have the worst ERA (5.21) in the National League. On the hitting side, Conforto and Alonzo are both flailing at bad pitches. I dont usually watch the entire game, but I swear over the last 3 games every Conforto at bat I watched he struck out swinging at a bad pitch. And where everyone was previously praising Alonzo for his plate discipline and ability to adjust with 2 strikes, lately he seems to be swinging as hard as he can at every pitch. Nimmo is still not hitting.. So, bad pitching, worsening hitting, and leading the league in errors. It's no accident we are at .500 and falling, now 2 full games behind the Phills

Wow. Thor pitched a complete game shutout today
He also hit a homer, which was the only run scored.
Mets win 1-0.

Mets pitching up, hitting down. Imagine that. Perhaps a nice 30 game span where both come together is in the offing, it's possible.

Welcome back to 2018, if the opposition scores 2 runs in the 3rd just go ahead and shut the game off. Shame on you for giving up those 2 runs Zack Wheeler. Another strong outing wasted.

Zack Wheeler has a higher BA than Rosario, Cano, Ramos, Legares, Nimmo and Frazier
Legares, Nimmo and Frazier are hitting .207, .200 and .167 respectively. And Dom Smith, who is hitting .333 off the bench, was just sent to the minors.

Can we petition the league to play 50% of our games against the Marlins?

Well 3 in a row and back to .500. Degrom & Thor both looked good. Maybe they are figuring out their issues.
But somehow I fear this will be no different then any other Mets season. Win a few lose a few never better then a .500 club and usually 10 to 15 games below that by the end of the season

Some really horrible at bats last night. Cano looks lost, so does Ramos. Our outfield is a joke, Legares is hitting 202, Broxton 152, Nimmo is hitting 206.
Even Alonzo struck out swinging (flailing) on a change up that was literally 2 feet outside.
Is there any way Smith can play in the outfield?

The Mets have a phenom throwing 7+ innnings of no-hit ball in AAA, but by all means lets keep throwing Wilmer Font out there every 5th day. They won tonight and I could care less.

I was at the game tonight. What a funeral parlor that place is. The place was pretty empty and the crowd had no life.
Too bad too, because it's a nice park.
Also, Callaway is history. He might have gotten it after the last series and I know I said by the AS break but unless this team goes on a tear (lol) I don't think he makes it through June.
