Yeah, so who's available to coach up our crappy secondary? We need a strong teacher as we are about to have some you talent added through the draft and Sam Beal...

Wait......we had a DB coach? So, that mess had a coach that someone else wanted? Lack of a pass rush will destroy any defensive backfield. Not saying this guy was good or bad, it he got no help from up front.

Oh my. This doesn’t sound good — but for the Cincinnati defense the only way to go from here is up.

It's tough to get good results from the secondary when the DL gives the opposing QB 6 to 7 minutes to scan the field. This is a great quote. It’s true: A good secondary can cause sacks with exemplary coverage which gives the quarterback no option but to duck and cover but the best way to get sacks and hurries is with a good old fashioned pass rush. If the defensive line is talented enough to employ stunts, that’s even better. I’m not sure who the toughest guy to bring down in the NFC East is right now but here in the AFC North it’s Big Ben in Pittsburgh. He’s just massive. However, if you cover his receivers and bring a delayed rush up the middle, even he can be sacked. Cincinnati’s pass rush is hot or cold. Sometimes they’ll terrorize an opposing quarterback for the entire game and sometimes they’ll barely show up. Maybe Lou Anarumo has some good ideas.
