What I liked about that play is all those guys open. A guy at the 5 yard line and another wide open on the left corner of the end zone and zero pressure to the QB. This is Shurmur’s system at work. give the qb time and he’s going to find people open. First time in a long time we have an Oline that may be able to match up against Dallas and Philly pass rush.

Let’s see how it goes now.

The point is, both were locked in on 1 receiver. I'm not going to spend too much time explaining how beneficial it is to go through progressions. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you know its a good thing. Except the FACT that he made the right read immediately. No need to continue with the progression process. Please watch the video breakdown that was provided in this thread. This is nothing but straight up Eli mafia biased bullshit. Slow down with the mafia BS and why do you always make these threads about Eli?I would like to see Jones make the correct decisions more often then not and he doesn't have years of tape to see any of that. He made some awesome throws in a tight windows which is exciting but those are riskier then hitting 2 players with nobody covering them. Let's see some progressions moving forward since the 1st read will most likely be taken a way as teams see what he's doing. Growth is the important thing for him and that drive showed the throwing skill now it's time to see the decision skills.

The thread wasn’t made to knock him about reading progressions. It was to also highlight that he is a threat to use his legs and the Jets defense weren’t at all prepared for that option.
As for the play. Jones read blitz and felt there would be pressure. He felt he would have to get rid of the ball relatively quickly. He then proceeded to place the ball only where the WR could get it. The wr on the left was only open within a limited window within the zone. The dump off to the back was there. But he made the call based on how the CB played the field. If the CB takes away the corner. He would have then used the other options. The CB gave up the outside. So Jones felt comfortable going there. Believing he could place the ball only where the WR could get it or incomplete.
Taking shots at the Endzone when available is a good decision.

None of the guys you accused of being in Eli mafia in this thread hate DJ. In your view, you can’t be a fan of both qbs, understandable because we have Warner and Simms fans who never got behind Eli. I know this isn’t the case here. Why? There are a bunch of examples, 1- big red got on my case because he thought I was bashing DJ when I was actually trolling his nutriders and side chicks. 2- Tem is arguing the play not the qb 3 - EDm was dissecting the play and believe me I was watching the game with him and he was impressed by the throws. He’s not attacking DJ he’s discussing the play. finally I suggest you grow a pair and stop being so insecure every time someone is critical of DJ or a certain play he was involved in. If you don’t, it’s going to be a stressful decade for you.

I wasn't blaming you for the thread idea. The OP was fine. It's how the "others" took it to mean that Jones DIDN'T make all the right reads and throws.

Jones could have took off running on the left side of the field, if he didn't want to put NFL scouts on notice with his arm . He has that ability as well. Funny you mention this because somebody posted a film study saying Eli would have taken the underneath.

This was perfect execution of 5 pass plays that lead to 7 points. At no point during that drive was the ball put at risk. To suggest that he should have read through his progressions is a desperate attempt by those who feel Eli has been slighted by the praise of Jones' play. And YOU talking about "attacking other posters to make to make a point is hilariously hypocritical. You've been one of the more ridiculous one's in attacking anyone giving praise to the way Jones played. I believe the term you used was 'Knob slobbering". You even bragged that you were going to mercilessly "troll" anyone giving him praise. Talk about needing to grow a pair. Please. You're a child among men.

Which probably would've netted a TD in that particular play as well.....I mean, 3 guys were wide open.

In your view, you can’t be a fan of both qbs, Excuse me. Please pay close attention to rule 120 section B. You must hate at least 1 Giants QB at all times. You may not like Jones and Eli. You can hate both if you want, but you may not like both.

I didn't think the trolling of Jones was related to the liking of Eli. I think some people are just foolish and pretend to know more about this sport than they actually do.

To me the trolling of Jones is because so many people here said "there is no way we will pick Jones at 6" and they are still upset about it because their couch scout skills failed them so they will attack Jones when they get the chance...even on perfect plays.

he executed the play exactly the way they teach it. He was reading the corner What the corner did determined where he goes with the ball Nah.....he should have checked down and gotten us in field goal range like his predecessor. Bingo. Eli in there and he dumps it off and we kick the FG. DJ took his shot. It connected. The one negative I do have with it is he did stare it down. Needs to move his eyes and head around a bit. Other than that, screw them for saying it "should have been intercepted".

Incorrect...I discussed this in the comment section of a few youtube videos: This is a high/low concept with the key read being the corner on the bottom of the screen. If the corner bails to the endzone, he throws to the TE. If the corner stays on the TE like he did, he throws to the WR. Its the WRs responsibility to beat the strong safety to the pile-on. All DJ had to make sure of is that the strong safety was in trailing positing. Corner on the top of the screen is playing press, that's why he only looks to the right side. This is a very simple play that is the perfect call vs cover 2 or tampa 2. It was a great pass. At the same time. If he keeps telegraphing passes . It will be exploited and he is going to get into trouble. The NFL had proven that. Why you go through reads in the NFL. It is not the NCAA anymore. He'll be fine, it's coachable. There will be those moments, 2nd time through a line-up types where opposing DCs and DBs bait him. He's smart, and if he maintains poise over the long haul he'll learn (biggest gift Eli can give him would be his ability to shrug things off, literally).

Its more this than Eli bashing. Ive given up on trying to explain it to people. Ive explained it in my own words, provided a video to illustrate what Ive explained, and even provided an article on the scheme. Its up to them to read/watch them. Its basic stuff I wish people would take the time to read so we can go back to playful jabs at eachother while we wait for Friday night to arrive.

I disagree. There were plenty of things to question about Eli's play over the years. A perfectly executed TD pass was never one of those things. So you're saying no one ever question a TD pass by Eli? that's not a claim anyone can make lol

um....We are talking about posters, Einstein. Find me ONE.....just one.....of any POSTER over analyzing a perfectly thrown Eli TD pass. Again.....I dare you. Ok, just asking .................Daryl. And since none of us has access to the old boards kind of hard to prove would you agree? I seriously doubt there's been no criticism of a perfectly thrown Eli ball...c'mon man.
