I would have gotten Lux and May at minimum for Betts. Even that wouldn't be enough. Ask the Angels if they would trade Trout under any circumstance. I bet they would hang up in your face.

What was Babe Ruth’s WAR? I am not sure but Adam Ottavino can strike him out I think it's 10.4 That's how this works right?

@joelsherman1 1/Cashman told me that Paxton first experienced pain the final week of the reg season, received treatment in Texas that he responded to and pitched especially well v. the #Astros in the playoffs. Was managing in the offseason, but problems arose anew a month ago 2/the advice was again injections and conservative treatment to see if surgery could be avoided, but pain lingered and Paxton underwent the surgery today. #Yankees
I really hate this dumb ****ing team sometimes.
I wonder when Torres goes under the knife. And Judge. And Cole.
Already outpacing last years historic record setting IL stints.
Jordan Montgomery Im assuming takes his place while we wait, for both Paxton and German mid season.

It sounds like they did everything they could and surgery was the last resort. Honestly, I would try everything I could besides surgery also. Anyways, the good news is that he will back in May or June.

As silly as it may sound, JA Happ was possibly retained as an insurance policy for Paxton.

Yankees’ $5 million teen stud Jasson Dominguez has ‘crazy’, ‘stupid’ skills “We watched him hit and he looked good,’’ said Mendoza, recently promoted to bench coach. “He was impressive for being 16 years old. He’s a strong kid with great bat speed and power. We only saw him take BP, but he was hitting balls with Gary and Miggy. He looks like one of them. For that age, he’s pretty advanced.’’ nypost.com/2020/02/09/yankees-5-million-teen-stud-jasson-dominguez-has-crazy-stupid-skills/

To rebut Didi's take, MLB is falling well behind the NFL (12 of 32 teams make the playoffs) and the NBA (16 of 30 teams make the playoffs). I get why they are trying to get more teams driving for the playoffs. It would make it 14 of 30 teams. You have to get more fans interested in a team that can make the playoffs.

I don't think it's such a bad idea. Far less of a change then when they went to the wildcard in the first place, and that has been great for baseball IMHO. The more fans you can keep engaged later into the season, the better it is for the sport.

Sure you can rest up but you can also rust up. Baseball is about repetition. A pitcher could essentially have 10 days off between starts. That could be tough to do.

Plus you can't be playing games well into November. Night games in November are too cold in many cities. That weather changes the game. It's no longer the best team. It's now who can survive the weather as well. That not baseball. Baseball is a summer game.

I'm sure Manfred would do something stupid like the Superbowl for the World Series and have a host city like Miami or Pheonix.

When I was serving in Okinawa, I developed a peridiscal cyst. 2 Navy corps-men gave me a local, had me lay on a bunk and proceeded to dig it out of my lower spine. I was layed-up for less than a week while it drained. I returned to full duty (Force Recon-3rd Marine Division) one week after the procedure. And this guy can't throw a pitch for 2 to 3 months. GTFOH!

They should keep things as is in regards to wildcard teams and just make the wildcard matchups the best of 3. I was all for the addition of the wildcard when I saw the SF Giants win 100+ games and not even make the playoffs. To even entertain adding more teams and games is just ridiculous.

Did you get to meet Hattori Hanzo? Silly boy! He was on the big island, Japan. Like I said I was in Okinawa. Although he would sometimes teleport to Oki for a night of hell-raising in Naha.

I'd be a bit concerned on the possible effect on Cole - with Yankees personnel pressing what transpired, and him saying he knew nothing about it. The only thing Id be worried about Cole is if it comes out the pitchers were cheating somehow too. His numbers did jump going to Houston. Somehow they got the best out of average pitchers with spin rates increasing and velocity spikes.
