Jets watcher, but not follower, here.
So what are the expectations for rookie QB Darnold with the team he landed on? Will he start right away, what was the point in bringing on Bridgewater, how patient will they be with his progress? Seems like that team has very little in skill set players for him, and the lines and running game have deteriorated the past few years.

I hope he doesn't haunt us for a decade plus which he just might. All those decades of searching for a franchise quarterback, missing out on Brett Favre, choosing Ken O'Brien over Dan Marino, etc. Now they might've finally got one with the assistance from the New York Football Giants.
I wouldn't start him in 2018. He's only 20 years old, so let him learn on the sidelines and from McGowan.

Bridgewater contract is very team friendly from what I understood. If they choose to part ways its with little to no penalty for the Jets. Best case scenario, the Jets have an experienced back-up QB who showed promise as a starter before a gruesome incident occurred.

I think he needs to do pressure-less mop up duty in games if the situation arises. It will give him a feel for what is to come that you can not get in practice.

He's a rookie, so it's not a lot of cash to have sitting on the bench. Sam Darnold is a "long term investment", which is why I wouldn't rush him. The Jets didn't draft him for the 2018 season. They drafted him for season(s) 2019 - 2030's.

Well, don't forget they are our team's new farm team, and it's been a long time since they were able to develop a QB.

George wanted Brian Cashman to sign released free agent, David Ortiz, and Cashman explained that they already had Giambi and Nick Johnson at 1st base. So he signed with the Red Sux instead. Now, we don't draft Sam Darnold because we have Eli Manning (at age 37) and Davis Webb.... I just hope history doesn't repeat itself in a football version of the Yankees/Big Papi scenario.

I'm more concerned about the Jets breaking their Super Bowl curse with Darnold, like Big Papa did for the Red Sux

I'm more concerned about the Jets breaking their Super Bowl curse with Darnold, like Big Papa did for the Red Sux I don't root against them, nor put much energy into rooting for them. Plenty of other teams to hope no more S.B.s for their future. But it seems the Jets currently have little to build on, except at maybe Safety and LBers.

he is young and there is no reason to start him unless they think it will be a positive for his NFL development.
as far as an drafted played that they Giants "could have had" becoming successful make no difference to me.
Because its all hypothetical. Darnold on the NYGs is a totally different outcome then Darnold the NYJ.
I get the comparisons make for interesting debate but it really has no bearing on the NYGs at all.

The Jets don't need to rush Darnold onto the field, but being the Jets they'll probably rush him anyway.

24 for 40 with one interception OTAs despite being red shirted. Not too impressive.
