What whole thing is fake? Judges words. They rang hollow to him. He said he could do that presser too. Just a bunch of tough football guy talk and words. Football cliches. The guy is a douche. He should work on ESPN along with all those other phoneys. "The crying Giants fans" Put it on now if you can. I'm not saying it, jackass is on the Kay show. It didn't sound fake to me, but when it comes down to it, it's all just words. I'll be sold when I see results on the field.

Exactly why I mentioned the "going overboard" comment before. It's great that he is a detailed guy and great interviewer, but does he know what to do in the 2 min offense or when to take timeouts?

You and your pal just don't get it. We are grown-ups here. No one is cantonizing Joe Judge here. Wake the f**k up you tool! Most of us here feel things are turning around with this event and don't need to be told the obvious by a fool! get a grip bobo. We have no idea if he will work out or not. Being overly optimistic doesnt make you smarter. Being overly pessimistic makes you a sad shit.

It’s always been about culture and leadership. The troops need someone to follow...a reason to make sacrifices. It’s a tough game played by tough guys. Not easy to lead these warriors.
Dad says go to the fridge and make a sandwich!! LOL!

I like this quote ! "Be flexible with your personnel. Don’t try to shove square pegs in a round hole. Figure out what you have.” Do you think this remark implies Bettcher ? Trying to fit players into his system that don't fit ? I never understood this approach about coordinator's individual system. Instead , use the individual player's strengths and stay away from his weaknesses. And that's another big part of the Patriots success. Have players that can adapt from week to week to the game plan dependent upon your opponent. This could be good. Time will tell Definitely one of my take aways from his press conference, he sounded like a Patriots coach. - Best player will play, regardless of origin (draft position, FA signing, etc.)
- Offense and defense will be fluid/adaptive with strategy game to game. One week we could throw it 40 times, with empty 5wr set....next week, could go heavy personnel and run it 30 times a week. Defensively, same......3-4 front to Bear front...possibly in same game.
- Use player's strength, i.e. "Tell me what they can DO and not what they can't do." Classic Patriot way.
- Stressed fundamentals - foundation for everything.
- Accountability - coaches jobs are to teach players...find method that reaches all types of learners (visual, walk thru, chalk board, etc) A young player like DeAndre Baker would have benefited from this with Baker admitting he was not clear on playbook during the season.
Ultimately, like has been said previously, who he chooses as his OC and DC will be critical. Keeping McGaughy as ST coach is already an intelligent move.
Let's go Giants!

Not sure if this was said but I thought it was worth mentioning that it was John Mara who called Joe to let him know he got the job. Not Dave Gettleman.
There are those who have stated they thought Gettleman hired Shurmur and that he was involved with the hiring of the coaching staff.
Hopefully that will be laid to rest now.

Loved the interview he did with Bob Papa. Looks like he's a no-nonsense type of coach. Great interview. And Coach has sense of style, loving the cap toe Monk strap shoes. emoji

The owners hire and fire the HC. If it wasnt clear in the past for some, it should be now.

BTW, I hope our fellow fans give this guy the benefit of the doubt and, more importantly, the time he needs to fix the mess. It’s not a quick fix but there should be visual cues all along the way that things are different in a good way. That might not translate into wins immediately.

Just watched it. Wow. If you're claiming to not be impressed by that PC, you're being disingenuous. No offense to Shurmur, but that is what a HC is supposed to sound like.

Funny you say that...I just learned today that Winter learned that all on her own. They had to teach her to swim with the prostetic because the other way was causing spinal problems by building muscle where dolphins don't usually build muscle I am usually not fond of the captivity thing but my wife has wanted to go there for a few years. I was very impressed and glad we made it up there while visiting in Apollo beach. It's not exploitive and the staff there are absolutely nuts over what they do. Dolphins are already higher order mammals and they seem to like the attention. They do their best to return all the rescued animals back to the wild, but some just wouldn't survive.

I'm getting the feeling we will finally be a team that will be in the playoffs every year owning the division for years to come. Hope we get to own the NFC East like the Patriots owned the AFC East for years on end. It'll be sweet to finally start beating the Eagles and maybe even sweep them for once!

Being overly pessimistic makes you a sad shit. Im not overly pessimistic, I like what he is saying and i hope he does well. Not getting ahead of myself like some of you. So...who's getting ahead of themselves, exactly? Has anyone predicted anything based on his press conference? We like the guy's demeanor. Get over it.

Okay, I really like what he has to say! I'm on board - he sounds just like the right type of person this team has lacked at the HC position for a VERY long time. The words were nice, I need to see results now, but I loved the conference.

I have been a Giants fan for about 45 years. I have never felt this positive before about a new coach. I was not prepared for it, and I am extremely optimistic now about the team's future. I think we're pretty healthy compared to Jets fans.
