The thought of Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr. on the field together will doubtless cause Giants fans to salivate. Ditto for Barkley and Beckham, who discussed the possibility of Barkley joining Big Blue before it happened. “We talked the Giants drafting me into existence,” Barkley told NJ.com. “When I used to hang out with Odell, I’d tell him, ‘I’m going to be a Giant, I want to be a Giant, I want to be a part of that team.'” The duo started working out together when Barkley was still at Penn State, and the running back has leaned on Beckham for advice. Due to Beckham’s off-the-field exploits, he has been able to give Barkley both sides of what it’s like to be in the spotlight. Beckham’s 2017 season ended after just four games due to an ankle fracture. His offseason hasn’t come without controversy — a video featuring Beckham holding what seemed to be a blunt went viral in March — and his behavior off the field has been a constant subject of conversation. see also How Odell Beckham can benefit from newest Giants rising star “He gave me a lot of tips on how to do it, and how not to do it,” Barkley said. “He’s done a little bit of both. Everyone has that. … He’s seen it all.” Barkley knows that he and Beckham can shift the Giants’ ceiling, but thinks the entire offense can do the same. “I do believe that we can have an impact on this league,” Barkley said. “But, when I say ‘we,’ it’s never just Odell and me. It’s not just the Saquon and Odell duo. It’s not the Saquon show. That wide-receiving corps around Odell is extremely talented. You have a great stable of running backs. “The whole team is in a really great spot.” nypost.com/2018/05/18/odell-beckham-took-saquon-barkley-under-his-wing-before-draft/

OBJ taking Barkley ( A Gentlemen and scholar ) under his wing? That should scare the crap out of the Giants brain trust!

Possible scenarios next season:
Barkley will headbutt the punting net.
Barkley will be a positive influence and OBJ will mimic Tebow's end zone celebration by kneeling in prayer.
OBJ and Barkley will take an in-season, mid-week trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas or Happy Valley.
Barkley will perform an end zone celebration mimicking canine reproduction.

Here we go again. This will quickly turn into an Odell hating feast in no time. There's nothing to see here.

OBJ is the consummate teammate. He exudes what it means to put 100% + into his craft. I see him a the best mentor For SB

I agree TEM. The hate for odell is nuts. Hes a crazy good player and desperately wants to win. His teammates love him. He works his butt off. What's to hate? He made a dumb decision wit the boat cruise as a 23 year old? He dances when he scores? Would you rather the guy who is laughing and joking on the sidelines while we are down 31-13 like it doesn't matter to him? We are a far better team with beckham. I'll take him on my team every single day.

But in all fairness, with his talent he could be one of the great ones. He is at the fork in the road like many other players and I hope he takes the right road for our sake! I'm counting on it! PS - Acting like an ass on the field also puts a target on your back, not helpful for a long career and what the Giants will be paying big money for!

Sadly most people will choose to focus on something else. thats because there are other things to focus on with OB. While the media certainly pumps things up he creates most of his peripheral BS on his own. I dig OB big time and his talent is undeniable I just would like it if was less of a lighting rod for the "antics" he pulls. For his own sake and the team;s sake too.

It's just possible that Barkley may be the best thing to ever happen to Odell. The spotlight now must be shared, and Barkley gives every indication so far that he will be an excellent pro.
This may actually cool Odell's jets and cause him to curb some of the nonsense. Time will tell, but this is my fantasy at the moment!

Yet a player like Landon Collins does more to sow locker room discord than Beckham. I don’t like Beckham’s antics either but they are pretty small potatoes when you take a step back and look at this whole thing. It is mostly media creation. He has an ego but I’ve never heard him say anything about teammates, coaching, or team management. He is pretty clean. The angst with Beckham comes from silly sideline antics and this year the pizza in bed video. Give me a break. Like I said I have a bigger problem with how Landon Collins conducts himself than Beckham. I guess we will see if bigger issues manifest themselves with him but when I look at Beckham with some perspective I am not seeing the drama and silliness at the level the media paints it.

ODBJr. is a wise and mature individual who leads by example and is an exemplary citizen of the NFL.
No finer person could serve as a guiding hand and veteran player for a rookie to emulate better than ODBJr.
Hopefully he will help all the rookies adjust to the NFL for the team.

I agree with all of what you have said. OBJ got himself shipped because he did an unauthorized interview and asked out he was immature at the time. He had Tisch who loved him, and Mara eating out of his hand but he pushed a little to far. In the end he has been injury prone and his talent would have been wasted here he is going into year 9 next year I'm happy for him he finally got to LA that is where he wanted to be and he finally has a good QB to play with Hasn't had that since Eli. Think OBJ took Eli for granted, think he gets it now how good Eli and Matt Stafford were and are, Hype don't make a QB good, so far Baker is very average with a really good supporting cast. At one point the Giants were Eli and OBJ and little else. Good luck OBJ and the Rams hope he gets his ring father time is coming. Sorry thought this was GT lol just answered a deleted member from 3 years ago lol.

The idea of Odell taking anyone under his wing is a scary thought. The guy went to the Terrell Owens school of football - minus TO's production.
He's the type of draft pick that transformed the Giants form a model Super Bowl winning franchise to a clown show franchise.

He's the type of draft pick that transformed the Giants form a model Super Bowl winning franchise to a clown show franchise. Very immature think one the last 8 injury plagued years he has been humbled and also learned jst because the media says a QB is good it doesn't make it true. he flourished with Eli and again with Matt Stafford now that he is healthy but as I said above next year will be year 9 his talent would have been wasted here.

Sadly most people will choose to focus on something else. Yea, we like to focus on things Odell actually does like go on national TV to criticize his team, city, and QB. Get his father to go on social media criticize team owners, players, QB. Say things like he "wants 1000 targets a season like other receivers" on podcasts before this season... etc, etc. I'm glad Odell found a place he can utilize his diminishing talent as a role-player. Odell's massive, fragile ego requires him to be in a place where he can stay in the limelight...and he found it in Los Angeles.
