Apparently SI did an interview with Trevor Lawrence and those who are the most closest to him, and some of the answers that were given have raised some eyebrows across the league. He was asked if has a chip on his shoulder and that's what motivates him to be the best he responded by saying "I don’t have this huge chip on my shoulder, that everyone’s out to get me and I’m trying to prove everybody wrong. I just don’t have that. I can’t manufacture that. I don’t want to.” His father was asked to describe what type of person he is, he said “He’s not award-driven. He’s not, ‘I want to win a Super Bowl at all costs.’” His high school coach was asked about the comment that Trevor and his father made and he responded by saying “There is no doubt about it: With who he is as a person, he could walk away from it tomorrow and be fine.” If your the GM of the Jaguars would you be concerned at all about his work ethic and what exactly motivates a guy that has never really experienced adversity his entire football career so far. I don't think this says much, if anything, about his work-ethic. To me, the larger takeaway is that the article says he can "walk away tomorrow". He's no doubt going #1 overall, but who knows, maybe he will hang them up early like Barry Sanders.

Thats the one negative about Lawrence. Not that he doesn't have a hard work ethic, because there are plenty of examples of the opposite, but rather he has been anointed as the greatest since Luck/Manning for over 2-3 years now. He is only 21. He more than likely would have been the #1 pick for 3 straight drafts. It will be interesting to see how he can adjust if he struggles early which most rookie QBs do. I think that is another comparable to Luck and P Manning. They were on the same pedestal too. Their work ethic was never questioned though. “He is obviously, the most talented guy, but he is the hardest worker,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said. “He is going to be one of the last guys off the practice field. It means something when you’re about to mortgage your whole franchise with this pick. Yeah, I think this will have no affect on the Jaguars selecting Lawrence. It’s pretty much a guarantee he’s going to Jacksonville. But, I would have concern with a player that has a shred of question towards his work ethic. The NFL is a game, but make no mistake. It’s a business, with a lot of money, time and energy invested into these players. The team will do their part to guide you and help you learn as you play. Your part is to absorb as much info as fast as you can, and be that player who is a tireless worker.
Want to earn the respect of your peers? Be the first at the facilities, and the last to leave. Hard work doesn’t go unnoticed in this league..

I don't think it's possible for the Jags to pass on Lawrence. The risk is way too big. Also this time of year I don't believe anything anyone says or does.

Luckily for Peyton, his neck got hurt late in his career and not in his first couple of seasons. Jones has had 2 injuries in 2 seasons. He is one more injury in 2021 away from being a big injury prone concern. |

Lawrence had labrum/labrum surgery to his non-throwing shoulder yet his throwing arm and the rest are healthy. |

I do not see the work ethic problem that the OP suggests. I see non-arrogant confidence. What is wrong with that? Without watching this kid play one snap in the NFL . Just by reading this about him. He is going to have Ice running through his veins. It seems the outcome does not matter to him. By what I interpret he is saying . He will only be in the moment that is taking place. On the field or not.
That is a quality that you want in a QB.
