Well, one last discussion about Devonta Smith's weight...
Devonta Smith did an interview with Shannon Sharpe where he addressed concerns regarding his weight. He said as a freshman in high school he only weighed 120lbs and by the time he was a senior he was 145-150lbs. He says at Alabama he was eating nonstop, anytime he wasn't working out he was constantly eating. He goes on to acknowledge that at the pro level he will never be over 180lbs and he's comfortable with that, and concludes by saying "This is who I am. Either you're going to accept it or you're not. It is what it is.".
Ultimately, DG will have to make the decision as to whether his size and the way he plays can translate to the pros. He can't draft him in the hopes that he will add weight when basically he has shown the inability to do so and quite frankly the guy seems quite happy with how much he weighs. What you see is what you get.

I wish I could say that and mean it....lol
I dont care about his weight. It will have zero bearing on his success or failure in the NFL.

His metabolism will eventually slow down I was at 150 lbs at his age and ate like a garbage disposal unit and never hit the gym 3 years later I was up to 170 and a classic "skinny fat"(looked like a pregnant skeleton)

He also said that he can run in the 4.3s in the same interview. ..and said he doesn't know where the idea he isn't fast comes from.

What you see is what you get. True..What I see is a boatload of production. I head Daniel Jones weighed about 130 as a high school freshman and TIki was about 4'5... not sure how it's even relevant what a football player weighed when they were 13 years old.

At worst a fantastic slot WR. At best a #1. Thats what he will be. He is going to make an impact in the NFL.

I’m concerned about his weight. This is the NFL and you will get hit. Visions of him sprinting behind the secondary are the norm but this league isn’t college. These are NFL men. 166lbs is nothing.

That's what he thinks. All that guy needs is a Kardashian sister. They'll have him fat in no time.
But then again, they might also have him lose his mind like most of their exes.

Playing on the outside and not going across the middle...less chances to get hit. All he has to worry about are Free safeties and the FS will be watching Kenny Golladay if he knows what's good for him.

The kid plays on an All-Star team against amateurs. I’m sure he can run a pattern and catch yet what happens after a season of getting hit? He doesn’t weigh much.

How.long was he a dynamic threat at a more injury prone position?

Also Sproles was 5'6 190lbs, so much shorter and heavier.

Sproles was drafted in Round 4 at approx 187lbs and 5’7. Not sure how one has much to do with the other

It's not like he lit it up in D3, he lit it up in 1 of the best conferences in the NCAA, dude won a heisman as a WR, that almost never happens. You make it sound like he didnt get hit in college Dude will be fine

I have no problem taking him if you're taking him based on his production and the belief that his play style will translate to the pros. My problem is when some want to take him while acknowledging that his weight is a concern based on the belief that he can simply put it on a couple of pounds during the offseason, even though he's acknowledged the inability to do so and he seems pretty happy with his current size.

Anthony Carter was successful in the 80s when DBs could head-hunt and cheap shots were much more common. Carter weighed 160 in college and in the 150s in high school. He was a multiple time Pro Bowler and was durable...almost had 10k receiving yards in his career when the league was run heavy not counting his USFL stats. I'm more concerned with Waddle who was less durable in college who already has metal screws and plates holding together his leg. Saban was hesitant with Smtih but said Smtih kept on attending the Alabama camps and kept on beating their best DBs with repeatedly.

this And he's shown that he can take a wallop and still get up. Not like he played untouched in the SEC. He took some really big hits, bounced right up. May have some of Eli in him in that gumby kind of way.

Entered the NFL at 25 years of age. You have to search far and wide for these guys. Yes and he did happen to play for Bama B.T.W. Same place JJ went and was drafted last season. They all look good at Bama and you have to hope they not only play well in the NFL but stay healthy. AY was light so does that mean 166lbs is nothing to be concerned about? Waddle has screws in his ankle or leg. Yeah, that’s not good either. The sad part about this whole debate is it still is taking place IMO. The team has a high #1 for QB, high for HB, high for OT along with an additional #1 at TE, a #2 pick at WR receiver, a #2 pick Guard and just overpaid for an X yet they still need another receiver and potentially a right side of the OL to get moving. Really?

so he’s more determined than 230lbs Barkley at not getting injured? Nothing against the kid or his ability or determination but he’s 166lbs. Guessing if the Giants were picking in the top 6 like they have over the past three years (which is unreal) that nobody would be mentioning him. They would want Chase or others. Why? For the same reason for my concerns. Want JJ if he came out this year or Smith?
