There are no "dogs" on this defense. No playmakers. No dominant pass rushers on the edge. LW can't do it all himself. He might be the only one playing worth a shit. How many easy interceptions has the secondary dropped? Not just one guy either...just about everyone has dropped one. Lorenzo Carter and Oshane Ximenes, our pass rushing hopes...no impact. We have Mr Irrelevant running the defense. No disrespect to him, but he's not good enough. Some want to blame the coach, the guy everyone was calling a defensive mastermind last year. I'm not going to say he doesn't have a hand in it, but in my opinion we don't have the players. Other than Martinez, that is all starters out there. And the defense wasn't good with him running it either. There is just not enough talent on that side of the field. How much more talent does he need to be middle of the pack?? The defense does have playmakers. They showed their abilities last season. The scheme is noticeably different. The alignments, personnel usage, playcalls. But I must say, yesterday's turnovers doomed them Other than LW and Blake Martinez when healthy, who are the playmakers? Honestly asking? We have no pass rushers. The safety play has been awful. Players are dropping interceptions every game. Playmakers make plays..who is making big plays on the defense?

The giants had one of the leagues better pass rushed last season..that was generated by scheme. I do agree that some players need to step up. Ojulari has been pretty good on the edge for a rookie. Carter and X have to step up though. They haven't. But I do think their DL is still good enough talent wise. I see a lot of gaps in the way they align themselves pre-snap. Maybe that has to do with losing Martinez a bit? But some seems like it's play design related

I don't think Carter and Ximenes or any of the other backers are good enough. I don't think Peppers or Ryan or Holmes are good enough. I don't know the answer, I don't know what the defense was better last year. All I know is right now it's terrible.

I was not old enough to remember the 70s Giants but for those of you saying that they were worse, I don't see how you can say that considering that in this day & age with FA, you can improve your team on a yearly basis, back then you were pretty much stick with the same team on a yr to yr basis until a players contract was over or the got traded or retired. The 70s D was better overall than the Giants D of the past decade, it was the O that killed that team back in the 70s. Maybe if they hadn't been stupid enough to trade Tarkenton after the 71' season, they might have actually had a shot at making the playoffs in the 70s.
From 1970-1979 Giants went 50-88 From 2012-now Giants are 59-92
They will hit 100 losses for the past decade this yr! This D will possibly break the 66' Giants D record of 501 points allowed in a season!

The 66 defense is the low bar for worst defense ever Remember it was not a high flying offensive era(at least in the NFL,the AFL was a nuclear war type league )so that was truly a special defense being bad The defense in the 70s prevented those teams from averaging 2 wins a year back then Then again since 2014 our defense has resembled those old electric football games where the players ran in circles aimlessly so.....

But some seems like it's play design related This league with the exception of a few of the bottom dwelling teams are able to adjust to schemes from year to year. Maybe they were good last year due to all those back up/young QBs they faced who held onto the ball too long and it had nothing to do with some scheme.. I would expect it to be easy to tell when a player is a disrupter who makes plays and one who gets a bunch of coverage sacks.. now I see that it isn't for some..

Yes, lol. So is Judge and Garrett. Since this is a thread about defense, saying Graham is a joke is 100% appropriate....
