Last game was a cautionary tale about not investing heavy in RB.....Take a long look at the Panthers as they are our crystal ball if we are dumb enough to give Saquon an extension.
17 Mill a year and McCaffrey has not played many games since his contract. He is always banged up and this was the TOP RB. So if he's not worth the money and he's been more productive than Saquon, I mean the writing is on the wall.
Drafting Saquon alone is the main reason Gettleman and his old school BS needs to go. That ground and pound stuff doesn't work with these new soft players that barely practice in pre-season.
Next GM that drafts a RB in the first had better had just won the SB the year before.

It's beating a dead horse at this point.
RBs are a dime a dozen. Until you get a great one and it's broken down all the time and in the garage.
Let's think about top RBs in the draft.
Elliot is probably the best example and he had a great OL most his career. Barkely, McCaffrey, Fournette, Richardson
Not a great track record.

Panthers were 3-0 with McCaffrey and 0-4 without him...so I'm leaning towards him being worth the money. McCaffrey would have taken a lot of pressure off of Darnold.

Drafting a RB at #2 in 2018 was a bad choice given the roster. I still think he's a strong asset whenever he's on the field though, hope we can retain him. I think the ankle sprain injury was just a fluke.

I think the ankle sprain injury was just a fluke. Correct with the first statement. Hellen Keller could have seen that. When he is 100% and in open field, he is a weapon. Other than that, he is ordinary. If the ankle injury is a fluke, but he has had that ankle injured in 2015, 2016 and 2019 as well. then what about the big one, his knee injury in 2020? The leg/thigh injury in 2018? The guy is injury prone, and thats not good for a RB. Injury History
Date League Injury Details Nov 26, 2016 Non-NFL Pedal Ankle Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Barkley injured his right ankle in the 3rd quarter vs. Michigan State but was able to play the following week. Sep 26, 2015 Non-NFL Pedal Ankle Sprain Grade 2 Barkley missed 2 games as a freshman with an ankle injury. Aug 13, 2018 NFL Thigh Hamstring Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Barkley was hurt in camp while running a pass route. He missed 8 days but was ready for Week 1. Sep 22, 2019 NFL Pedal Ankle Sprain Grade 2 He suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sep 20, 2020 NFL Knee ACL Tear Grade 3 Barkley suffered a torn ACL during the Week 2 contest at Chicago. I agree, don';t sign an RB to a large 2nd contract. The guys like D Henry and A Kamara are truly outliers.

I just live in reality. He is injury prone. You have been ragging on this guy since he was drafted. Give it a rest already. And my "ragging", has it been mostly right as in reality? Or mostly wrong as in hating? I'm certainly not going to "give it a rest" because you say so. I commented on a thread about his deficiencies. Oh the harshness.

You wanted a QB (probably Darnold). I understand this is why you are happy when SB is injured or doesn’t play well.
