Now we need a quality starter. I’d truly prefer Bryant over Baez let’s see if it can happen. I’m guessing Showalter is going to coach this outfit. I would love the team to make an offer to Carlos Rodón. He is a solid 7 inning pitcher with a 2.4

Figured Diaz was a shoe in. I still believe he resigns here.

Matz? Where’s the offer to Stroman. Do the Wilpons still own the team? Sheesh man. No..... The Wilpon's definitely do NOT still own your team.

I assume Sherzer is just waiting for someone else to come near matching since he was pretty clear he didn’t want to play for the Mets last year. I’m prepared for him to go elsewhere. Honestly if the Mets are really at 40m per for 4 years that may be for the best.

3 and 130 for Max Scherzer. Thoughts? thinking Baez might ask for $700 million and get it.

doesn’t he also collect $15 million per year from the Nationals until 2028 too?

3 and 130 for Max Scherzer. Thoughts? It’s not my money. Excited it happened. Good adds last week. The obvious question is what’s next? We just blew the doors of luxury tax so clearly Cohen has decided to attempt to squash the league with his wallet. Personally I love it.

Hell of a one two punch if both DeGrom and Scherzer are healthy.
Mets fans, enjoy entering Yankee territory with an owner who opens up the wallet.

This money astounds me. But apparently this is the era were in. Now as far as baseball Scherzer and DeGrom can stay healthy thats a hell of a one, two punch.
I think were going to need strong middle relief guys to cut innings on these 2. 6 innings per game tops I'm thinking. Some games maybe 5 innings, thats all Stroman was good for. DeGrom can't hold up if we had a strong pitcher for 2-3 innings to finish or get to the closer. And could maybe pitch at least twice during a 5 man rotation it would go a long way to saving the bullpen.
Now lets get Baez or Bryant or both to drive in runs. If all this can come about..... were the guys to beat.
Supposedly money is no problem.

Not my money. May be an over paid grandpa. I hope he is not . I am hoping DeGrom are and Scherzer are the best 1 2 punch in baseball.

I'm happy I guess? Another 37 year old player we overpay and hope he doesn't fall apart in NY. Where have I seen this before?
I'm not complaining. Just hope this kind of deal finally works out for the Mets.

$43.3M AAV
Beats the MLB highest ever by a wide margin. Garrett Cole has a $36M AAV.
Crazy. Only 3 years though.

We have arrived. I bet one more big fish comes out of the water before Wednesday. Bryant perhaps?

I figured he wouldn’t be retained and the reason is simple. These offensive moves have one thing in common, producing traditional runs. In Alonso you already have one high K rate in the middle of the lineup, a 2nd one in Baez is detrimental to the offense for all his talent. If they are going to commit more money to someone else, they will have a much higher contact rate than Baez. I wish him the best.

I would have liked to keep Baez but I won’t miss all those strikeouts. Let’s hope we can get Bryant !

Maybe if he could play third base.

Completely true. Then masked with the goo removal for pitchers as a coverup for the real uptick on offense. On the eve of the lockout MLB has some serious explaining to do.

Wow. I know the change with the pitchers using substance was obvious, or at least I thought it was, but if they switched back to the juiced ball, that is damning. The juiced ball was tighter wound and a bit heavier, so it can easily effect spin rates and all that. If this is true, which it appears to be, Manfred needs to be immediately relieved of his duties. They could literally control games how they wanted to with that. Imagine only some teams got certain balls while others didnt?
