Why hasn't JM adopted the Steeler model which has worked beautifully for almost 50 years? Has anyone ever pondered that? It can only underscore how delusional and ego obsessed JM is. He has such little self awareness that he can't even model his own results against a best in class owner. unfortunately a lot of people at the top are like John Mara, its always someone else's fault...

I also think that the "he doesn't care because the money keeps rolling in" argument misses the mark.
He hired the most assistants in the NFL for Judge this year and all that money is outside the cap. He could have banked it but he spent it. Of course owning an NFL franchise is like printing money but JMs problems have nothing to do with money imo.
He just lacks the vision and skill needed to be a successful CEO in any business. His business just happens to be pro-football.
That leaves us pretty much screwed because when we get tired of one brand of turkey we can try another. In the case of the Giants we are pretty much stuck with the JM brand of turkey.

They deluded themselves twice that they had their version of Mike Tomlin, a young coach who could be in place for a long time. 1st McAdoo and then Judge. They were horribly wrong both times. Problem is Mara can't figure out why. I’m actually not totally down on Judge. It’s hard to argue that they don’t play hard for him; that they haven’t quit on him. I have this nagging feeling Garrett was “forced” on him. I'm just wondering how long before they start turning on him though. His schtick is going to get old with the players if they don't start getting some wins under their belts. The players and coaches say they ignore the media but we know the truth is they don't per response tweets, etc. where they respond to the talking heads. Eventually doubt will creep in and infect the locker room if it already hasn't.

He was asked if he would rather hire an expert or someone with potential and he said he would hire the expert because everyone has potential and chances are the people with potential are working for the expert anyways. We keep hiring potential. Found it, first question asked:

I'm wondering if the league can step in at some point and tell the owner that they need help and then dictate the kind of help or person to institute the help..

#firemara This should be included after any disgruntled post any Giants fan posts anywhere regarding this shitshow. You can't fire the owner. Regardless how bad WE all think he is. He is the owner and he is not going anywhere. Do I wish he would sell the team? Absolutely! But its not going to happen.

It’s that if the fans had the ability to fire a dipshit owner Mara would certainly qualify.

Hiring someone who has never excelled at a job introduces risk, as we are proving with our HC signings. Selecting a candidate with "potential" also takes special insight which JM doesn't seem to have. He seems to make all the rookie errors in hiring,

Well….that just tells me that some families aren’t as close as they appear to be. Catch my drift? It’s like you winning a million dollars and your brother asks you for half. IDK, if I won a million dollars; I'd give my sister half. Found money and all; so why not share it with loved ones. That’s how YOU are. Dig it?

i think Johnny is desperately trying to be the Steelers and failing miserably. I don't think he is desperately trying to be the Steelers. I have been watching them for 50 years and their owners stay totally clear of football operations. I agree with someone who said that our trophies are a curse because he believes he had a real hand in them. I agree with this as well. I believe Wellington passed in 2005 so it’s safe to say John took personal pleasure from those Lombardi’s as he was running the team. But while many fans and the media seem to think John runs the football operations, I’m not so sure that’s true as evidenced by both Reese and Gettleman’s running of this franchise. I think I could make a pretty solid argument that our team has had no consistency in our identity under John Mara.

Speaking of identity, on the Monday game didn't they say that Judge said something about playing up to their identity. I think I recall thinking at the time....what the hell is the identity because it isn't positive. I agree with the lack of consistency. It is like everything has been a guess for years.

The thing with Pittsburgh is not the continuity of HC. That is a by product.
What the Rooneys do is stay totally out of football operations.
They are content to be the owners of an NFL franchise.......pretty damn nice isn't it?
One of our owners is not content to hold just that lofty status (and wealth building power).
Unlike the Rooney's he thinks that he is the best choice to oversee football operations.
That is the main point I was trying to make.
And after 50 years, the Rooneys have proven that their model works much better. That's a given.
What is perplexing is that JM chooses to ignore the stark contract and chooses instead to keep promoting himself.
