Wow...late night thread creating after taking prescription drugs. I think the point of this thread was people who call DJs obstacles excuses will use them to defend other QBs. Big difference IMO Daniel Jones - 3rd year QB making rookie mistakes Trevor Lawrence - Rookie making rookie mistakes If Trevor looks as bad as DJ in year 3, then we can have this conversation. Daniel Jones looks to be like Sam Darnold or Johnathan Goff. Just not that good. End up a backup somewhere else. I cant say the same for Lawrence yet. Too early. Right....excuses

If DJ and SQB continues to head south trade them both for draft picks. Then hit the reset button... Assuming of course Gettlemen is not making those decisions

Jags would only do this if Gettleman was their GM!

I have to admit, I'm not a believer in Trevor Lawrence, I never have been. I don't know why, and I'm probably wrong lol. A friend of mine whose opinion on football I respect more than anyone I've ever met, for a number of valid reasons, flat out said he will be a bust. Why? What do you not see in him? Overall accuracy and decision making if I have to pinpoint anything. Like I said, I'm probably wrong and he isn't in the best situation. I guess I expected him to make the Jags better, which to me a draft pick that high should do, regardless of the team he is on. I'm not saying I expected him to turn them around and win 10-11 games, that isn't realistic. But I did expect him to make them better than they are.

More like for Russell Wilson. Throw in Dexter Lawrence, and a 1st. Multiple potential contracts that can either be extended or passed on. Before anybody shoots it down, we got rid of OBJ, JPP, Olivier Vernon, etc. Anything is possible. Heck somebody might even bite on Golladay. You never know. Some teams do some dumb things. the deal for Golladay isn't exactly looking that great right now, too much for too little results so far...

Lawrence is the only QB who i really have faith in over many years (for whatever that’s worth). Smart, calm, accurate, mobile, tall and can make all the throws. I don’t like when he or a any of these QB’s run though. He took some Jones type shots in college which were unnecessary and wreckless imo. He actually suffered a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. As far as his rookie season. Lot of receivers went down and apparently they’re running the wrong patterns. Hope Urban Meyer can get that ship straightened out or the old “he’s a college football coach” is going to be mentioned. That Jags roster is as weak as the Giants. I think Lawrence will be amazing yet he’s not superman. And yes, he has some to learn b/c the defenses aren’t from the ACC.

Now, bear in mind, I learned all I know about trading from Draft Day. So, if this is crazy, blame Kevin Costner. If we are going to use one of our picks on this QB class AND we are looking to shed weight....how about a #1, Jones and Barkley for Trevor Lawrence? Are you kidding me? That hair in NY?? Come on. I would even throw in EE to sweeten the pot. I don't think were using any of our #1 picks on a QB. Or our #2 pick either. I feel it's almost a given that Jones is coming back for his 4th season. Now his option year may not be picked up. IMO if Jones wants that 5th year let him earn it. And the Jags giving up the #1 pick in the draft that they just started to build around I don't think even Kevin Costner can pull that off. Lawrence is the only thing that franchise has going for it.

The California blonde look in NY? Eh, even with the ladies, the hair would get him only so far if he wasn't winning.

His completion percentage is pretty low, I think under 60%, but that might be due to his overall situation. I don't know, time will tell

It’s smh, his hair, really? Always the homers. Praise Peart, Lemiuex and Gettleman yet mock a kid who might be the next John Elway b/c of his hair.

Lawrence is from Tennessee, went to school at Clemson and plays for Jacksonville. I’ll bite my tongue on this goof take.

I would even throw in EE to sweeten the pot. I don't see anything wrong with discussing this. We used to have these conversations as a kid in Syracuse. I remember trading for a Mark McGwire donruss rookie card and having to give up Gregg Jefferies rookie card and a Kevin McReynolds fleer. Back to the subject at hand. I don't see the Jags making that trade. At the surface, the Jags would have to accept a subpar QB and his 5th year option, a talented but injury prone running back and his 5th year option, a talented tight end that has underachieved, and a first round pick. Lawrence is going through typical rookie growing pains, but you can see how special a talent he will be. He makes some throws that I've seen only a few QBs make. It is atypical for a rookie QB to come right out of the gate. For every Justin Herbert, there are 30 Johnny Manziels. I would not make that trade if I were the Jags, mainly because they aren't getting much in return on the surface.
