With all due respect, I think you are misapplying the word "anecdotal". No offense taken, quantify it for me. To me, an "anecdotal" example, is a singular event that folks attempt to use to define a much more grand and complex matter. Not sure what "anecdote" you are referring to. But I'm glad to be shown.

"Something that is anecdotal, is usually and unreliable singular personal observation or event. For instance, a hurricane is an anecdotal event, you can't determine the extent of global warming based on that event. In other words, it represents a lack of longer term information or data.

Gabriel Davis 2020 4th round Another blown opportunity to put young dynamic weapons around a young recently drafted at 6 qb ... still remember telling people we dont need to invest in the first round to find weapons. They were shocked, and angry! But Gucken Fettleman blatantly ignored adding any other than Slayton in the 5th in 2019... Which is why we had to overpay for a wish version of the guy we should have taken instead of Baker in 2019... Lucky we now have a GM that invested a bunch of mid round assets here every year and understands modern NFL requires a fleet or dynamic playmaker and preferably on the cheap

Yes, what is his evidence that TC became more powerful in picking players? 1. That is the Giants way. (or was) 2. Tom's personality suggests it. Can you imagine JR drafting a player Tom didn't want? 3. Tom presence was huge in the combines. Did you ever see JR there? 4. It took Tom 1 minute to sign Ereck Flowers after we dumped him. 5. Deductive reasoning. Any other conclusion would be counter intuitive. Oh, so your opinion then.

Evidence? Same as Ross, none. I'm sorry. Marc Ross was a cog in the machine. He had NO decision making power at all. Yet according to some, he personally destroyed the New York Giants. Tom Coughlin was the head coach. If you don't think he had tremendous influence over what players were acquired then your head is in the sand. Decision making power isn't the most important thing. When it comes to scouting departments, the information they provide is what the decision makers use to make decisions. The ability to make good decisions is reliant on getting good information. So to pretend that just because someone doesn't have "decision making power" means that they can't be responsible for poor decisions is just silly.

Absolutely true. But not relevant to the conversation. Except it is. We aren't talking about what anyone in our organization "might" have done. It could be anything. MY point is that the ultimate decision makers are responsible for policy. The HC is responsible for how the team is managed. The GM is responsible for the quality of players on that team. The D of PP doesn't have the final responsibility and anything they did when in our FO is completely unknown to the public. I could tell from Marc Ross's public comments in the media that he wanted to move on from Eli. That is just my impression. I say good for him. We moved on from Eli WAY too late. But again, I can't know what his real role was. Nor can any of us, regardless of what your cousin's barber's sister says.

So apparently everyone and no one makes the Giants picks. The war room is a black hole. Either way....I'm pretty sure Marc Ross wasn't making the picks.

I think it's fair to say Marc Ross didn't provide any solutions.
More accurately, he probably tried to put out some fires with gasoline.

Having said that...I DO think the last two drafts, when Joe was here, were better than the previous 2.

@peter_King , Giants GM Joe Schoen told him that he'll have to clear out $40M in salary cap. "
