The idea of having a player of Mitchell's caliber on the Knicks is exciting but I feel like I'm the only Knicks fan who doesn't want to make the trade. At least not for the reported asking price.
The Knicks are in no position to compete for a championship right now. Mitchell doesn't get us any closer, in my opinion. Based on reports, the Knicks would have to give away up to 6 future 1st round picks and players like Topping, IQ, Grimes, Reddish, McBride, etc. That makes no sense in my opinion.
For the first time in as long as I can remember, the Knicks are a healthy team in terms overall depth, young talent, cap space, and draft picks. We finally acquired what appears to be a solid PG in Brunson. For a team that's rebuilding, the Knicks are in a decent spot. Why would we break up our current nucleus and give away so many future assets for a player who likely won't have much impact on our overall playoff success?
I think the current Knicks roster would go as far in the playoffs as a Knicks roster including Mitchell would. Unless the reported asking price comes down drastically, I think trading for him would be a mistake.

Half the roster and 6 firsts? Hell no.
