The Ravens have started out 5-1 in each of their last 2 seasons.
I understand that the Giants are not the Ravens, but part of that has to be due to opposing teams facing pressure defenses at the beginning of the year.
Maybe that trend continues this year and the Giants don’t get eliminated by Columbus Day. Maybe they split the first 6 games and have a fighting chance when the schedule lightens up.
Putting some hope out there…

I am both optimist and pessimist this season.
So many "ifs". Depending in which way the "ifs" go, positive or negative, will determine the seasons results.
At this point they still suck until the don't. Schoen, Daboll and company have lots to do !!!

Putting some hope out there… Although the Ravens did compile a 5-1 record in each of their last two seasons, their wins were primarily due to the Ravens offensive scoring, not it's defense. It's defense did play well against lesser quality teams. I I do shere your optimism, but for other reasons.

Let's be real. One fifth of our cap is dead. We should be spending $184,000,000 on active rosters (11% in dead cap). As of today, we are spending $159,000,000 of the $206,600,000 on active rosters. We are essentially playing this season with 2017 cap space.

We are essentially plying this season with 2017 cap space. On the positive side, the Giants retained good players, got rid of players that didn't fit Daboll's vision, and before and after the draft the Giants signed relatively good and potentially good NFL players at a cheap price, and the Giants had very good draft. If the Giants play poorly we can blame it on the Cap and dead money. But if the Giants play well then the concern about the Cap dissipates. Maybe Schoen is Billy Beane. Cap situation will better next season, but Giants still likely to have Golladay's bloated contract. If he plays well this season that will be easier to swallow.

I think we’ll see progress later in season. Hopefully the young players we have adjust to the NFL and the new system quickly. Quickly would be in the 2nd half of the season.
But I think we’re in for some rough games early on. Quality teams are going to beat us up pretty bad.
I want us to look competitive in games with weaker teams, pick a few of those off and hope the pieces in question (QB, o line, WRs, RBs, secondary) all start to gel in the 2nd half.

The defense might be my biggest areas of concern on the team. I'll just leave it at that...just want the team to show that the negative people are wrong.

I was actually more optimistic before training camp started then I am now. This season is going to be brutal. Wish I could fast forward about 2-3 years.

I think around half the teams in the NFL have around 20 mill-50 mill in dead cap. We have too much for sure but its kind of the nature of the league to have close to 10% now. It will go down a lot next season but after KG and a few other moves we may be around $15-$20 mill next season.

I hope the comfort we saw in the running game preseason is an early success for us this year.
It’s frickin Josh Allen but Buffalo has had their QB score no less than 6 TDs rushing the ball every year for the last 3 years.
Jones had 2 last year, I’m hoping the offense spreads the defence thinner across the field and opens lanes up for Jones.
I want to see if our running game in the preseason was a mirage.

I do not get what does not fit "vision or system" means. If an HC or DC and OC need a must fit player to qualify their systems. Injuries will dismantle the structure of that order. Couches intuition should always be player centric not system based. System based schemes work fantastic when all the pegs fit in square holes. No NFL roster will ever have enough square pegs. It is carrot on a stick methodology.

Considering the choices we have, why not? 😂 My platform: Domestically, make colleges free for those who can't afford it. Cancel more student . Affordable health care for all. Raise minimum wage. Haven't done in a long time. Foreign policy: No economic sanctions on countries as it helps their economy and hurts ours big-time. Defend our shores but not fight overseas to enrich military contractors. Stop sending military aid to Ukraine in order weaken Russia as Ukrainian citizens are getting wiped out. US should back diplomacy instead.

We are strapped with dead cap and have - 6 million in cap space that must be resolved before 4: PM EST on September 7th. (Wednesday) Putting lipstick on a pig will not make the hog more adorable. The new staff needs to get over that 6-win celling. We do not need excuses we need results.

This scares me, discussing our team's running game and the only personnel mentioned is Jones. I don't want to see our running game try to be like that of the Ravens, regardless of how successful they've been with it. Jackson obviously has vision and decision making abilities that Jones lacks.

Syriana “corruption is why we win” - yup, we cannot defend the world.

To cancel all college debt and pay all college fees would be multi trillions. Where are you getting the money? Is it fair to expect 100 million workers that don't go to college to pay for doctors and lawyers loans?

Just posted about our and other teams dead caps. Have any of those teams had 6 wins or under 7 of the past 8 seasons? Have those teams had only 1 winning season record in the past 9 seasons. I wonder if their fans had to endure one double digit win season in the past 10 seasons. You know what makes this harder to swallow. This all transpired after the last SB . We fell hard with no rebound. We do not need any more excuses. We require results. Being strapped with Dead cap does not give a message that this will change anytime soon. Here is the narrative excuse " We'll have the most cap space next year". That tell me we will overpay for FA. The result of that. We will be in cap hell in 2025. Having too much cap space as a result of hitting the roster with a sledgehammer. Looks great on paper. It is a double edge sword. More often than not. The result is over bloated FA contracts that never live up to their cost of production value.
