I get Verlander has never been great in postseason. But can older pitchers really succeed in the postseason now?
We saw Max struggle the same way. Even Jake was not great, and he's a lot younger.
Maybe it's a question of older pitchers lasting 160 games. What say you?

I agree, This is exactly what I was thinking watching the Mets in the playoffs and then watching Verlander as well. As far as the Mets go I thought having Max and Jake back to back in the playoffs was going to be our sledge hammer coming at other teams.
Remember years ago the Braves had Maddix, Glavine, and John Smolts. I thought we were going to have our version of that with Max, Jake, and Bassit. Bassitt was the only one that showed anything imo. Max couldn't even go 5 innings. Jake went 5 innings but had allowed a couple long balls each time.
I am so glad we signed Cookie, and I am hoping we can get Walker signed as well. I thought those 2 as our 4th and 5th pitchers gave us the advantage every time. If I remember correctly I believe each of them won 15 games.
