“The Giants and MetLife are in the process of getting things done for next year,” Love said. “That turf will be changed. The stats have shown that we are on one of the worst fields in the league.”
It’s unclear if MetLife Stadium will be going to natural grass or moving to an alternate turf. Either way, the FieldTurf Classic HD system that was installed in 2020, will be gone.

I vote Natural Grass.
I also vote to blow up Metlife Stadium and rebuild if thats an option.

A lot of knees will be intact cause of this. Injuries happen, this is a sport played by gladiators. However, when guys get their knees ripped to shreds for planting their foot in the ground, you have to make changes.

They already tried a natural grass system and it failed.
But since they're going to raise ticket prices next season, they should be able to afford whatever they choose to do.

Loved to be proven wrong. I hope changing the turf is some magic bullet. But I noticed that the current turf was installed in 2020. Maybe the turf before the 2020 turf was garbage too. I’m skeptical that the problem will be solved.

Best time to seed is in the fall.
They don't know what they're doing.

Hopefully we do see a trend of not being a top 5 injured team year after year though start to dissipate and move to at least the middle of the pack, a team with average league injuries.

Big A I think just about everyone would rather play on grass. To me in this case will the natural grass field hold up with 2 teams playing on it ? To me that's always been the question.

abc7ny.com/sports/metlife-stadium-replacing-surface-in-2023-but-not-to-grass/12465743/It won't be natural grass. The old Giants stadium tried a tray system of natural grass - compromised sections could be rotated out as needed. Sounded good, not sure why it failed. It looks deep for rooting and has drainage provisions. Attachment Deleted

They should just play on cement like we did as kids. My group of friends were still playing 3 on 3 in a parking lot in our mid 30s, before or after the games on TV. The parking meters were our 10 yard lines, and an extra hazard for us boozed up bunch. No one got hurt, or at least remembered how it happened.

So the current turf was installed in 2020, that is interesting. There certainly have been injuries before that, this has been an issue for more than 3 years.
I am glad they are making the change, I do believe there is a correlation with injuries (especially non contact), I guess I am just curious as to what the previous turf type was prior to 2020.
Too bad they are making the change too late for a guy like Shep, whose season and probably career ended more than likely directly due to the current turf.

Good point as we have similar weather. Yeah, I've seen it done up close and personal...but we have sunshine every day of the year. That would never work in the NE.

Pittsburgh Cleveland Kansas City Denver Chicago If the above stadiums can do it then it can be done in the NE. What did all the stadiums prior to artificial turf? It can be done. The biggest detriment is that the stadium is shared and gets more traffic that others possibly. I am not saying they will or should use natural grass but it can be accomplished. Much more upkeep and care of course.
