He brought a lot of excitement to NJ when he joined the Cosmos.

I knew it was coming. He has been in bad shape for over a week. I met him when I was kid at an event the Cosmos was holding for youth soccer . Still have his autograph

I remember my Dad taking me to a Cosmos game at the old Giants Stadium probably in the early or mid 80's to see Pele, and my father was a huge fan of European soccer.

Absolutely the GOAT, it is not even close. Was a great ambassador for the sport too

Wow...just saw this. I was never into soccer as a kid or an adult but Pele transcended his sport in a way that an athlete probably didnt at that time. Or at least very few have. He was a global icon for sure.
