Trump's got great hands. A lot of people are saying we should try him out at receiver - friends of mine. Who knows. I don't know. We'll see what happens.

Mark is just giving his opinion on an issue which really shouldn't be an issue at all. if we all felt like he obviously does, everyone would be playing on the same field regarding this kneeling issue. I applaud the guy for putting the suggestion forward. Go Giants.

He made a simple statement and everyone wants to denigrate his skills? I have a lot of respect for him beating the bone cancer in his leg. The doctors just wanted to save his life, and the leg, and here he is playing Pro football, still, 9years after the cancer struck. He isn't a great player... he's a below average pro LB... but, he has been solid all these years on our special teams. No one beat him out for that role or he would have been gone years ago...so how about giving the guy a break and appreciate his years of effort on our team. Agreed Zim. He has overcome a lot. Probably would have been a first round pick had he not gotten Ewing’s sarcoma. He never fully recovered from it, went undrafted after and still a Giant. Actually he is a remarkable story. As far as the Trump quote, I think he was just talking about what Trump thinks is locker room talk isn’t really what the Giants talk about in the locker room. Nothing more, nothing less. I don’t think he was commenting politically at all.

Who gives a crap what your locker room talk is about. What in the world does that have to do with standing up for the National Anthem ? He wants the president to come and listen to the players talking about night nurses, yea that's rough. Just do what the league says, stand up for the Anthem or stay inside. Then yea we can all hang out and talk about nice things, puppy dogs, babies, beautiful sunsets and yes even night nurses. i think what he was referring to was the brush off Trump (or his wife, not sure which) used for the hot mic recording of him after an interview where he said some stuff that should be universally discouraged (paraphrasing "that was just locker room talk"). I think Mark was trying to explain what passes for locker room talk in 2018, i don't think it was commentary on the anthem issue at all. Yes. I agree CGF.

Well for what's it's worth, I think you are doing a perfectly horrendous job of it. I mean that.

I have a better idea ,instead of inviting trump to the Giants locker room to talk maybe the Giants can win the super bowl and get invited to the WH and talk to trump there? As we have seen, more and more players have been passing on this invitation. Now we are beginning to hear that Trump pressured the owners into this anthem decision, and is boasting about getting his way. Almost makes me dread the next round of politics after the upcoming S.B..

Why on earth would anyone be upset over was Herzlich did here? You would actually have to be trying to find trouble in ANY situation to do so.

Yes I admire him for his cancer fight and for the Giants sticking with him and yes he is a good person no one has said anything different but his time with the Giants should have been up at least 4 years ago. This is a NY Giants forum and we question the skills of all the players all the time ,MH doesn't get a free pass. I have a better idea ,instead of inviting trump to the Giants locker room to talk maybe the Giants can win the super bowl and get invited to the WH and talk to trump there? Roswell said: Before Herz was diagnosed and treated he was in the discussion as a first round pick. Not sure what you mean by “this has to stop.” Not calling him a Pro Bowler, I believe he had part of his tibia removed in addition to aggressive chemo and radiation when he was about 21. Thru hard work and perseverance he carved out a lengthy career and should be commended. But don’t worry, he might not make the cut this year, so you can relax. 😎

Not upset ,just a second string Lber who is lucky to be on the team should be more worried about his position than trump don't you think? Now I bet if it was Eli spouting off some posters might have a problem with that, .........do you agree? i think its a hyper sensative topic right now. The following is an oversimplification but probably mostly accurate: If you LOVE Trump you want Herz to shut the hell up and play football instead of comment on the president, especially because he should be cut anyway If HATE trump, you think Herz is brilliant and clever and wish he said more, and btw his contributions on special teams have been huge for this team. If you're indifferent to current political climate, what Herz said was completely uneventful

Is this your contention? And this was far from 'spouting off".

Mark needs to shut up, why he is on this team I have no idea? I don't get this. Why does he "need" to shut up? What does his position on the team have to do with his right to speak his mind?

Some people are just plain misinterpreting the context of Herz's comment and have bent this thread to fit some sort of political slant. He was just talking about how locker room talk in the Giants locker room centers around their families and mundane issues.
And what the Herz's role on the team is or was, like TCHOF just said, has nothing to do with it.
And Big Red, I'm sure you've been watching this team even longer than me if your name comes from Alex Webster, you wrote earlier that Herz should've been off this team four years ago, and that might have happened had the Giants realized that the LB position actually needed to be addressed thru the draft and FA. It was always ignored by Reese.

Trump is an embarrassment to office of the POTUS...his obsessive tweeting is what has brought more attention to this topic in the first place. Never before has there been such a President that divides the people of our Nation...

He wants him to talk to players instead of making blind statements about players that really lack merit? Why exactly does that piss everyone off? I don't really know why he's still on the roster, but even with DG around he's still here for now so that tells me he brings some value. As far as his comments, his comments showed some thought and consideration, that's more than you could say about poorly thought out tweets in the opposite direction. Full disclosure is that I generally support Trump(sorry for political statement), but he certainly doesn't give full thought or filter to many of the things he puts out for public consumption. It's one of the reasons that many of his successes so far as president are roundly ignored, because this media hungry generation only cares about that crap. I will now self impose a 20 minute ban for speaking politically, my apologies. "He wants him to talk to players instead of making blind statements about players that really lack merit? Why exactly does that piss everyone off?" Oh, there's a reason why this will piss some people off. They just won't come right out and say it. They will use coded language instead.
