right now Flowers is on the roster and is playing with, for what its worth, the 1s in OTAs. I would rather have some hope then just consider it a lost cause. When and if he gets cut then so be it. Up till then I try to trust the coaches and staff. This is a different coaching staff. I believe they are more into training to fix issues. They also seem to believe in mentoring. Having Solder work with Flowers is a positive sign. with that being said why not be hopeful and positive at this point in time then?

It amazes me how no matter how long guys suck there are still people who think they're magically going to show up the next season and play well. right now Flowers is on the roster and is playing with, for what its worth, the 1s in OTAs. I would rather have some hope then just consider it a lost cause. When and if he gets cut then so be it. Up till then I try to trust the coaches and staff. Granted this is a whole new staff so judgment will be withheld until the season, but I'll assume you've trusted previous coaches and staff to know what they were doing to and we know how that turned out. I am 100 % a realist and he has given me zero reason for hope.

If his attitude has improved and he is open to coaching, he could be a very good RT. You mean like how he got all moody at being replaced at LT and was the only player not to show up for voluntary workouts?

When he showed up and started to practice under the new coaching staff his attitude changed. It's a different atmosphere and he seems happier.

One, i am rooting for Flowers big time. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, there is no contact in these OTA'S. Though, is refreshing Flowers has come to camp with a better frame of mind.

I feel the same way GT I might get ticked at his play, but year in and year out as long as he is in a Giants uni I will root for him to get better and stay healthy, why hope for the worst stay positive maybe some of that energy will help.

We all know it won't be easy for him to switch, but I agree with Mercurio if his attitude has improved and he has learned through failure maybe they can still get something out of him,

This is one reach by Jerry that I believe contributed to him losing his job. He was the highest-rated offensive lineman still on the board when the Giants picked him. Can you imagine the vitriol that would have been spewed at Jerry Reese had he NOT picked an offensive lineman? He's already maligned for not taking offensive linemen despite his having used two first-round picks (2013 and 2015) in three years on OLs. 1 9 New York Giants Ereck Flowers OT Miami (FL) ACC 1 10 St. Louis Rams Todd Gurley † RB Georgia SEC 1 11 Minnesota Vikings Trae Waynes CB Michigan State Big Ten 1 12 Cleveland Browns Danny Shelton DT Washington Pac-12 1 13 New Orleans Saints Andrus Peat OT Stanford Pac-12 1 14 Miami Dolphins DeVante Parker WR Louisville ACC 1 15 San Diego Chargers Melvin Gordon † RB Wisconsin Big Ten from San Francisco [R1 - 1] 2014 Doak Walker Award winner 1 16 Houston Texans Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest ACC 1 17 San Francisco 49ers Arik Armstead DE Oregon Pac-12 from San Diego [R1 - 2] 1 18 Kansas City Chiefs Marcus Peters † CB Washington Pac-12 1 19 Cleveland Browns Cameron Erving C Florida State ACC from Buffalo [R1 - 3] 1 20 Philadelphia Eagles Nelson Agholor WR USC Pac-12 1 21 Cincinnati Bengals Cedric Ogbuehi OT Texas A&M SEC 1 22 Pittsburgh Steelers Bud Dupree OLB Kentucky SEC 1 23 Denver Broncos Shane Ray DE Missouri SEC from Detroit [R1 - 4] 1 24 Arizona Cardinals D. J. Humphries OT Florida SEC 1 25 Carolina Panthers Shaq Thompson OLB Washington Pac-12 1 26 Baltimore Ravens Breshad Perriman WR UCF The American 1 27 Dallas Cowboys Byron Jones CB Connecticut The American 1 28 Detroit Lions Laken Tomlinson G Duke ACC from Denver [R1 - 5] 1 29 Indianapolis Colts Phillip Dorsett WR Miami (FL) ACC 1 30 Green Bay Packers Damarious Randall S Arizona State Pac-12 1 31 New Orleans Saints Stephone Anthony LB Clemson ACC from Seattle [R1 - 6] 1 32 New England Patriots Malcom Brown DT Texas Big 12 The draft class really wasn't that great imo. Obviously in hindsight you would take Todd Gurley, but that was right in the middle of horror injuries season after season for the Giants and Gurley had the ACL repair hanging over his head. I can't remember who I wanted at the time, I do remember it wasn't Gurley or Flowers though. I think I was maybe thinking Shelton? Or trade down, who knows it was 3 years ago.

I don't know what will happen to Flowers and none of us truly know. But at least he will be at a position that he might be a little more comfortable with and you never know what happens. A lot of pressure was on him at a position that is very demanding and at least if he earns the RT spot he wasn't given it because he was a first rounder. IMO every single position must be this way. I was never sure about this with the JR regime. Always felt instead of admitting a mistake he would give players to much rope before cutting the cord just to justify his pick.

This article is just the tip of the iceberg as far as Im concerned. gmenhq.com/2018/03/26/truth-new-york-giants-ereck-flowers/ I know someone who traveled with the Giants as someone who filmed them and he mentioned that it is more than evident that Flowers doesnt really get along with anyone and that there is some level of Flowers feeling like he is entitled to the position. Eli takes the OL out for dinner before the season starts and last year it is my understanding that Flowers didnt even show or gave some excuse as to why he couldnt go. The problem with Flowers isn't his physical potential as a football player. Its that he is not coachable, thinks he should have the starting job no matter what and does not listen to the advice of his peers. He is simply a moron and more than likely has some type of personality disorder.

Hopefully this shake up will benefit his career and ultimately our Oline. I like the fact that the Giants cleaned house with the Oline. It’s best for everyone to great a fresh start. And Flowers working with a guy like Solder is huge. It’s hard to even consider we had Hart at RT last year.

The Giants need him to perform well this year at RT. If he does, things could be very interesting around December...

Halapio got all of the first team reps at center today. Wonder if Jones has some kind of injury.

The guy’s ceiling is average. Hopefully, he hits that ceiling this year before he goes off to play somewhere else.

Maybe it will work out but from side I have a shorter fuse with some of these players. The JR era has jaded me, I hope he works out but if he does he would have earned it. No gimmes!!
