We now have a staff that believes in designing a system around the players instead of the other way around. Eli and Webb are thriving. The rest of the team seems happy about the changes. Even Flowers and Apple seem to be turning things around. I know it's only OTAs, but I have a good feeling about this team for this season.

A good coaching staff will do wonders for any team.

As coach Shurmer said they are experienced professional coaches, nothing against MacAdoo Eli had more experience then he had and it showed once he was gone spags sounded like he left the offense to the OC and the QB.

I have no idea how good anybody is on this coaching staff but as long as McAdoo is gone it's an improvement to me. God I hated that McAdoo.

Shurmur just exudes competence ... still have to wait to see how he does when the bullets start flying.
A lot of us (including me) were optimistic about McAdoo too....

It’s actually refreshing to have a coaching staff that will put the players in the best position instead of the old square peg into the round hole philosophy

I was just having a convo with a friend the other day that between all the upgrades we made (solder, return of beckham, Barkley, ogletree, etc.) I expect the upgrade in the coaching staff to make the biggest impact. Not only was Macadoo's offensive scheme completely inept, he also had zero leadership skills. As soon as we hit some adversity half the team lost belief in the head coach.

Did any of you guys play sports in high school? Do you remember the one coach that was clearly inept but the players basically ignored him for the most part and went about their business and performed well? Do you remember how eventually that coach's toxic stupidity and attitude eventually brought everyone on the team down and the team disolved into a steaming pile of crap?
I remember a coach like that, and I'd bet my house that is exactly what happened during McAdoofus' 2 year term as HC.

I remember a coach like that, and I'd bet my house that is exactly what happened during McAdoofus' 2 year term as HC. My freshman year I played JV basketball. The JV coach was great. We went 24-2 that year. The following year as a sophomore I moved up to varsity along with all the guys that went 24-2 with me the prior year on jv. But the varsity coach sucked. The culture wasn't the same. We were still pretty good that year but the 2nd year with all our starters returning we were terrible. My senior year we had a new coach in, probably less talent, but a significantly more successful season.
