The guy had 887 all purpose yards in his rookie campaign. Did not do much after that. Thoughts on his career ?

I remember George, was considered a bust unfortunately just too may Injuries so I barely remember him being on the field, also too we had Joe Morris at that time who would go on to become a Pro Bowl RB the year they drafted George
I guess they thought Joe was too small to be that every down back but it worked out, George couldn't stay healthy, Joe finally got his opportunity and ran with it becoming a 2x Pro Bowl RB and winning a Super Bowl
God Bless the Late Great George Young but yeah missed A LOT at RB in the 1st Round had this weird obsession with Michigan RB's too: from Butch Woolfolk to Jarrod Bunch to Ty Wheatley...every few years he was drafting a RB I think he took Rodney Hampton and Jarrod Bunch back to back years if I remember correctly
but yeah Injuries ruined George Career unfortunately

We did take a lot of Michigan running backs. However Michigan did produce some good backs so it’s not that big of theme.

Big physical back.. Goes to show you how the league has changed over the decades. Those numbers now couldn’t get you a job at UPS. A freak injury in practice in ‘86 derailed what could have been a good career. He suffered the same injury as Bo Jackson did. He has more steel in his leg than the tin man. To play another five years with a bad hip is a testament to his hard work.
If not for his injury we would have never picked up the phone when the Cardinals called about unloading O.J Anderson. It’s why his son Jamal Adams held the Jets hostage years back.. He saw firsthand what his father went through. Get your money as fast as you can. And don’t look back..

Definitely Elite - the 12 min mark, his career highlight
and yeah, the best end zones we ever had.

The one thing George Young had trouble with was 1st round RBs. Woolfolk, Adams, Hampton, Bunch and Wheatly. He was only 20%.

Adams was a good RB to throw in the middle of it all. If you mixed it up with Morris, Carthon, and Anderson, no way were you gonna lose. Nobody carries “big” RB cores like that anymore. At one time, we had like 6 or 7 backs on the roster. I think it was Morris before he got hurt…and we had Anderson, Hampton, Carthon, Rouson, Tillman, Megget…unstoppable! You won’t see that these days. Now….that right there gentlemen, is indeed an ELITE group.

The one thing George Young had trouble with was 1st round RBs. Woolfolk, Adams, Hampton, Bunch and Wheatly. He was only 20%. Woolfolk wasn't great in the first but George got Joe Morris in the second that year as well so it worked out. I thought Adams looked good as a rookie. I didn't remember his injury.

I believe that Woolfork had some substance abuse issues. Still can’t believe that Wheatley wasn’t a better pro … he was great in college 🤷♂️

He was a bad pick.

I believe that Woolfork had some substance abuse issues. Still can’t believe that Wheatley wasn’t a better pro … he was great in college 🤷♂️ I actually was thrilled with the Wheatley pick at the time. Me too. Also Bunch turned out to be bad because of injuries but he was everything you would want. Excellent blocker and a good runner.

Did Young draft Joe Morris? He was also one of our best.

Seems Hampton had no issues but, jeez, he was good and got few carries too often imo.

Random fact. We got destroyed by the Bears in the 1985 (Jan 1986) playoff game.
George Adams led our team with 65 yards receiving in that game.
